Deal or No Deal is an American game show based on the Dutch format. The show is hosted by Howie Mandel and premiered on NBC on December 19, 2005. Contestants choose from one of 26 briefcases, each containing a different amount of cash.
Throughout the game, players eliminate chests in the hope of revealing chests with lower values while retaining the highest value chests. Periodically, they receive offers from the “banker” to purchase the chest of their choice. Players must decide whether to accept the offer (“deal”) or continue playing (“no deal”).
As the game progresses, the tension builds and contestants must make tough decisions to maximize their potential winnings. Special variations of the game, such as the Million Dollar Mission, add excitement and unpredictability.
Deal or No Deal became a hit for NBC, spawning merchandise and syndicated versions. The show’s format remained popular, with occasional tweaks, until its final episode aired on August 7, 2019.
