How to play Hi-Fi Rush

Hi-Fi Rush is a rhythm action game where the protagonist Chai and various elements in the environment move to the beat of the music. While attacks do not need to follow the beat, movements are automatically synchronized with the music. Players can enhance damage output and perform combo finishers by pressing buttons at the right time. Players can cancel enemy attacks by pressing buttons at the exact moment they launch an attack. In addition to the combat action, the game also includes rhythm-based mini-games such as call and response cues and button sequences that match on-screen prompts.

The game unfolds in linear stages, each representing a division of the villain corporation, with a unique musical style. Chai engages in boss battles in these stages. In addition to combat, the game also contains platforming elements, and the player can unlock new moves, abilities, and perks using gear (in-game currency earned in battles). Permanent upgrades, such as health and special meter boosts, can be found as collectibles throughout the stages.

Completing the game unlocks bonus features, including the ability to revisit past levels, explore previously inaccessible areas, new difficulty settings, and Rhythm Tower, a survival mode similar to Bloody Palace from the Devil May Cry series.

Hi-Fi Boom Story

Chai, a young man aspiring to be a rock star, volunteers for Project Armstrong, a robotic limb replacement testing program at Vandelay Technologies. CEO Kale Vandelay secretly assigns Chai to collect trash, which results in Chai’s music player becoming embedded in his chest.

Chai is labeled a defective and faces a hunt by the Robot Security Department. Chai discovers the capabilities of his new arm, and with the help of allies such as Mint and 808, he uncovers a conspiracy involving mind control behind the Armstrong Project.

In the process of exposing the AI program SPECTRA, the team battled Vandelay executives, including Kale, who planned to control users’ purchasing habits. With Kale defeated and SPECTRA shut down, Roxanne Vandelay returned as CEO, while Chai became an ambassador for the Armstrong project.

At the end of the story, a mysterious door is discovered leading to a secret hub containing another SPECTRA unit. Despite having a backup plan, the problem is solved when the power plug is accidentally pulled, causing SPECTRA to be deactivated.
