Fortnite
Fortnite is a popular online video game produced by Epic Games and launched in 2017. It has three versions, but all have similar gameplay and the same game engine. The first version is Fortnite Battle Royale, a free-to-play game where up to 100 players can fight until only one player remains. Then there is Fortnite: Save the World, a cooperative game where up to four players use the traps and fortifications they build to fend off zombie-like creatures.

Finally, there’s Fortnite Creative, which allows players to create their own worlds and battle arenas. While Save the World and Creative have been successful, Fortnite Battle Royale has become incredibly popular, attracting more than 125 million players in less than a year and generating hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue per month.

Fortnite Update 28.30 introduces the final changes before the anticipated Chapter 5 Season 2. The update unveils Fortnite Music Festival Season 2, with Lady Gaga taking the headlines. Players can now unlock Lady Gaga’s skin and enjoy some of her songs added as Jam Tracks. This follows on from The Weeknd’s involvement last season. The update marks a new era for Fortnite and sets the stage for the upcoming season with exciting new additions and features.
Catching up with speed
Are you ready to prove that you’re one of the fastest Rocket Racing drivers? Well, get ready, because in Speed Run you’ll face off against the most formidable opponent you’ve ever faced: time.
Try to set the best lap time on variations of your favorite tracks like Riviera, Anaconda and Olympus. Each race has a countdown timer of several minutes, giving you plenty of time to complete multiple laps (“runs”) and create the perfect route to the finish line!
Don’t be afraid when you spot a ghost while you’re racing in Speed Run. This not-so-scary apparition will show you exactly how you drove at your best during the race – correct its mistakes to shave off your lap time.
You can play Speed Run in public or private races. If you play with other people, you don’t have to worry about crashing into them. Player collisions are turned off in Speed Run, so you can focus on your lap time. On the other hand, you can’t catch up with players by tailgating. Start line acceleration is also disabled in this mode.
Your fastest times on a track will be uploaded to that track’s season leaderboard so you can see how your skills compare to drivers around the world. There’s also a Friends leaderboard where you can compare your times with your Epic friends to show off your prowess! Don’t rest on your laurels, though, because the leaderboards refresh every season.

To access this new mode, simply select a track in Rocket Racing’s Speed Run row or choose a Speed Run playlist with rotating tracks.
Exciting mission!
All good missions start with a spark! Complete runs in Speed Run to progress toward Speed Run Kickoff missions. Once you complete the first mission, you’ll unlock the new Sprintspark Trail! Complete the rest of the missions to unlock 13 paint colors for the Sprintspark.
The Speed Race Launch Mission will remain open until 12:00 AM EST on March 26, 2024.
More improvements on mobile
v28.30 further enhances the functionality of playing Rocket Racing on mobile devices:
- The touchscreen directional pad has been updated to a touchscreen joystick for greater precision while driving. You can adjust the joystick sensitivity in the settings.
- We updated the visuals of the mobile HUD.
DIESTRO enters the Fortnite ecosystem
Although it looks retro, the Diestro body has a modern feel! Take it for a spin in Rocket Racing and other Fortnite experiences. This Rocket League original car is available in the store as part of the Diestro car pack:
- Diestro body (available in 13 paint colors)
- Chit Chat Decal
- Lozano Decal
- Old flame decal
- Sooo Fly Decal
- Stripe Decals
- Stuntman Decal
The decals in the Diestro car set can only be equipped in conjunction with the Diestro body. If you already own the Diestro and decals in Rocket League, you’ll find them waiting for you in your Fortnite locker thanks to cross-game ownership! If you purchase the Diestro car set in Fortnite, you’ll own the content in Rocket League.
Use XENOSPLASH to show the sparkle!
So focused on the road that you feel like you’re in another world? Xenosplash Boost Enter the Fortnite ecosystem with the Xenosplash Boost Bundle! This bundle in the store includes Boost as well as 13 different paint colors
If you want to show off your prowess, pair this Boost with the Lustrum X10 wheels, which will also be making their Fortnite debut. These wheels are available in the store via the Lustrum X10 Wheel Bundle, which includes the wheels and 12 different paint colors!
Like Diestro, Xenosplash Boost and Lustrum X10 Wheels are also eligible for cross-game ownership.
Major improvements and bug fixes
- You can now do mid-air rolls! Simply hold down the left trigger button (or spacebar on PC) while in the air and turn to spin in the air. You can also pair rolls with thrusters to fly across a runway. We’re looking for feedback on this new advanced mechanic, so let us know what you think.
- Various missions have been adjusted so that they can be completed by playing Speed Run, Racing, or both! Mission descriptions have also been updated to reflect this.
- Further improved the environment on ground collision to prevent getting stuck. We will continue to make improvements as needed.
- Improved checkpoint passing times and displays one more millisecond on the scoreboard for more accurate time tracking.
- Increased the minimum speed for mid-air demolition when impacting the front of a car to match the speed required for demolition when touching down (400 km/h).
- If you get a new Drift Booster while you already have one, it will now always give you the full rush for a short period of time, rather than just making up the difference. This was partially the case in v28.20, but Drift Booster smaller than the one you already had was only 50% as effective.
- Your wheels should now appear to turn more responsively as you drift.
- If your vehicle already has bonus speed from the same Boost Pad, you will not be able to gain bonus speed from that Boost Pad again. You can still stack bonus speed from multiple different Boost Pads.
- Fixed an issue where cars would sometimes launch backwards when landing after performing a sideways aerial dodge.

Whether in public or private races, players are focused on achieving the fastest lap time, as player collisions are turned off. In addition, the update brings exciting missions related to Speed Run, offering rewards such as Sprintspark Trail and various paint colors for Sprintspark. These missions add extra excitement and challenges for players until March 26, 2024.
On mobile, version 28.30 enhances the Rocket Racing experience with improvements specifically for mobile players. The touchscreen D-pad has been upgraded to a touchscreen joystick for more precise driving, and players can adjust the joystick sensitivity in the settings.
The mobile HUD has also been given a makeover to ensure a more user-friendly interface. In addition to these mobile enhancements, the update also introduces two new features to the Fortnite ecosystem: the Diestro Car Body and the Xenosplash Boost Bundle.
These cosmetic options allow players to further personalize their rocket racing experience. This update also brings significant gameplay improvements, including the introduction of the air roll mechanic, which allows players to perform air rolls to gain advanced control. Various missions have been adjusted to allow progression through Speed Run or Racing, and a large number of bug fixes help provide an overall smoother and more enjoyable gaming experience.
Fortnite Gameplay
Fortnite offers a variety of different game modes. In Save the World, a strange storm wipes out most of the population, and players team up to complete missions and face zombie-like creatures called “Husks.” The goal is to gather resources, rescue survivors, and withstand the storm.
Players can earn in-game items by completing quests to upgrade their characters and gear. In Battle Royale, up to 100 players compete to be the last one standing. They parachute into the map, search for weapons and resources, and navigate the shrinking play area. The last player or team standing wins.
Creative mode lets players unleash their creativity and build their own worlds, from arenas to racetracks. Whether cooperating in Save the World, fighting in Battle Royale, or building in Creative mode, Fortnite encourages players to be creative and strategic in their gameplay.
