How to fix Fortnite PS4 voice chat not working issue?
Check out the Community Issues Trello Board
- Visit the Fortnite Community Issues Trello board for regular updates on known issues, including voice chat issues. This will give you the latest information about any known voice chat issues.
Verify Epic Games server status
- Go to the Epic Games Server Status page to make sure all systems are running properly. If there is a system-wide issue or outage affecting voice chat, your issue may be resolved once the outage is fixed.
Adjust voice chat volume
- Make sure your voice chat volume is set to at least 50% so your teammates can be heard clearly. Low volume settings may impede communication.
Check your Fortnite voice chat channel
- Make sure you are in the appropriate voice chat channel. In Fortnite, there are two channels: the Party Channel (for players on the same team) and the Game Channel (for players on the same team but on different teams). Make sure you use the right channel for your situation.
View parental control settings
- If your Fortnite account has parental controls enabled, you may need to work with a parent or guardian to adjust your settings to allow voice chat. Set Voice Chat to Friends Only, Friends & Teammates, or Everyone.
Open the required network ports
- Fortnite’s voice chat uses a protocol called XMPP, which requires network ports 5222 and 433 to be opened. Make sure these ports are open for a successful connection.

Fortnite is a popular online video game developed by Epic Games that offers an engaging gaming experience through its three main game modes. Fortnite Battle Royale, the most famous mode, is a free-to-play battle royale game where up to 100 players battle on an island, with the last surviving individual or team winning. Players strategize, scavenge for resources, build structures, and engage in intense battles to ensure victory.
This mode is more narrative-focused than Battle Royale. Finally, Fortnite Creative empowers players to unleash their creativity, providing a sandbox environment where they can design their own worlds, build structures, and even create custom game modes, resulting in unique and imaginative gaming experiences. Across all modes, survival, resource management, strategy building and engaging in combat are key aspects of the game’s huge appeal.
