Netflix’s anthology series Social Distance, created by Hilary Weisman Graham, was one of the first TV projects to directly respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. Each episode told a different story about life in lockdown, using the digital communication we all came to rely on – Zoom calls, texts, and video diaries. Isabella Ferreira appears in episode 1, “Delete All Future Events” playing a teenager named Madison who’s dealing with the complications of a new online romance during a time of extreme isolation.
Though her role in the show is relatively brief, Ferreira manages to pack in a touching performance that highlights the emotional toll of quarantine, especially for young people craving connection. She brings a refreshing vulnerability to Madison, grounding the episode’s premise in a reality that many viewers related to. It’s a more understated project in her filmography, but it still showcases her ability to express complex emotions through small gestures and subtle changes in tone. While Social Distance didn’t receive major awards recognition, its relevance and intimate performances were widely praised.

Directed by Sammi Cohen, the Hulu original Crush is a joyful, queer coming-of-age rom-com that celebrates individuality, first loves, and finding oneself through art and friendship. Isabella Ferreira stars as Gabriela Campos, a cool and confident high school track star who ends up being the surprise love interest of the film’s main character, Paige (played by Rowan Blanchard). What begins as a friendship rooted in misunderstandings slowly evolves into something sweet and genuine.
Isabella Ferreira absolutely shines in the role, bringing charm and humor that made Gabriela instantly lovable. The chemistry between Ferreira and Blanchard is a notable highlight, and Ferreira handles both the comedic and romantic beats like a veteran performer. While Crush leans into teen rom-com tropes, it does so with a fresh, inclusive lens that made it stand out. Sadly, Ferreira wasn’t nominated for any major awards for the role, but fans and critics highlighted her as a breakout star among the ensemble cast of Crush.

One of the most critically acclaimed Netflix originals of all time, Orange Is the New Black was already a phenomenon by the time Isabella Ferreira joined in season 4. She played Eva Diaz, the teenage daughter of inmate Maria Ruiz (played by Jessica Pimentel), appearing in several emotional flashback sequences. Ferreira’s performance brought a grounded innocence and intensity to Eva, showing the human cost of incarceration through the eyes of a child growing up with a mother behind bars.
Ferreira’s Orange Is the New Black scenes, though limited in screen time, carried serious emotional weight and helped audiences better understand Maria’s motivations and regrets. Sharing the screen with Jessica Pimentel, Ferreira made Eva feel heartbreakingly real. The show itself won numerous awards, including multiple Emmys, and Ferreira’s role – though not individually honored – left a lasting impression. Among the best Isabella Ferreira movies and TV shows, her time on OITNB stands out as an early example of her ability to take on heavy, layered material with maturity beyond her years.

2017’s Beyond My Skin, directed by Saila Kariat, marks Isabella Ferreira’s debut and the beginning of her career. This indie drama follows Olive Tabor, a young girl grappling with grief, identity, and mental health after a traumatic event rocks her family. Ferreira, in her first-ever screen role, steps into the spotlight as Olive, and immediately proves that she’s a performance powerhouse. Beyond My Skin may have flown under the radar in the mainstream, but it was a crucial turning point in Ferreira’s career, showing off her raw emotional talent.
Her role in Beyond My Skin required Ferreira to carry the emotional core of the story, and she delivered with a performance that was honest, intense, and deeply affecting. Despite her youth and inexperience at the time, she navigated complex emotional beats with a level of nuance usually only seen in actors with much greater levels of experience. While Beyond My Skin didn’t gain awards traction, it was screened at several independent festivals and marked the beginning of one of the most promising careers of her generation.

2024’s Incoming is one of the most recent additions to Isabella Ferreira’s resume, and it’s also one of her most exciting. Directed by Dave Chernin and set in a high school plagued by social mishaps and unexpected romances, Incoming blends classic teen comedy tropes with a thoroughly modern twist. Ferreira stars as Bailey, and gives a performance that taps into both her comedic instincts and her ability to portray the emotional toll of high school drama in the digital age.
Ferreira co-leads the cast of Incoming with confidence, showing herself to be a sharp-witted scene-stealer. What makes Incoming stand out among the best Isabella Ferreira movies and TV shows is her command of the screen – she feels like the heart of the story, guiding the tone between laugh-out-loud comedy and moments of genuine teen angst. Featuring supporting turns from other rising stars, Incoming is a fast-paced, fun showcase for Ferreira’s ever-growing talent.

HBO’s Gray Matter is a mind-bending sci-fi thriller directed by Meko Winbush, and it gave Isabella Ferreira a chance to flex her genre muscles. Set in a world where people possess telekinetic powers, the story revolves around Aurora (Jessica Frances Dukes) and her daughter, Ayla, as they navigate the dangers of their abilities. Ferreira plays Calah, a mysterious and rebellious teen who crosses paths with Ayla and ends up pushing her to question everything she’s been taught about her powers – and herself.
Isabella Ferreira’s performance in Gray Matter is outstanding, elevating the MAX original movie to one of her best projects so far. She plays Calah with a mix of intensity and vulnerability, giving the character layers that elevate what could’ve been a standard sidekick role. As the story dives deeper into questions of control, freedom, and identity, Ferreira brings emotional stakes that make Calah one of the most memorable characters in the film. Sharing the screen with Jessica Frances Dukes and Mia Isaac, she holds her own and then some. While Gray Matter didn’t rack up major awards, it was praised for its originality and standout performances – especially Ferreira’s.

The best Isabella Ferreira movie or TV show so far remains her breakout turn as Pilar Salazar in Love, Victor. Created by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger as a spinoff of Love, Simon, the Hulu original follows Victor Salazar as he adjusted to life at a new high school while exploring his identity and relationships. Ferreira played Pilar, Victor’s sharp-tongued younger sister, who quickly became a fan favorite for her emotional honesty, dry humor, and fierce loyalty to her family.
Ferreira’s role grew significantly over Love, Victor’s three seasons. Pilar wasn’t just comic relief – she had her own fully realized arcs dealing with grief, love, and trust. Isabella Ferreira handled every plotline with ease, giving audiences a grounded, complex teenage girl who felt real and relatable. What’s more, the chemistry between her and the cast – including Michael Cimino, Ana Ortiz, and James Martinez – was one of the show’s strongest assets. Though the series wasn’t showered with awards, Isabella Ferreira earned critical praise and helped make Love, Victor a landmark moment for inclusive teen television.
