World of Warcraft Classic: Seasons of Exploration
World of Warcraft Classic: Season of Exploration, also known as SOD, is the second major update to the older World of Warcraft game. It’s designed for players who already know the game well and want something new. This season adds new content to the game and changes the way people play the game. It starts on November 30, 2023 and is designed to be a surprise, like an adventure. Unlike before, there won’t be a beta area for people to try out new stuff before it makes it into the real game. They want players to discover new things while playing the game.

At the start of the season, players can only reach level 25, which is lower than before. A place called “Blackfathom Deeps” will be different and will be a 10-player replica of this level. Additionally, there will be new things to earn, such as special weapons and armor. One cool thing is that they might add places that were never in the original game, like the Emerald Dream and Azshara Crater. These locations will be new places for players to explore. They also plan to use something called tiering to help the game function this season.

Exploration Season DPS Tier List Explained
- Warlock (S Tier): Warlocks may not be as famous for damage as mages, but they will be very powerful in Season of Discovery. They have abilities like Eternal Agony that significantly increase their damage over time (DoT), making them fierce contenders. Even their tanking ability “Shapeshift” helps solo players a lot and allows them to stay competitive with powerful damage-dealing moves like Chaos Bolt and Incinerate.
- Mage (S Tier): Mages are already popular in Classic World of Warcraft and are expected to continue to do so. They have some incredibly powerful abilities like Arcane Blast and Arcane Surge, which also help with mana issues. With talents like Enlightenment and Burnout, mages may even be ranked higher than before. In Season of Discovery, they will be more terrifying than ever.
- Druids (A-Level): Druids, especially those in Balanced form, receive a huge boost through abilities like Stormrage, making them even more powerful than before. Even feral form looks better with buffs like Wild Strike, making Druid a great choice for players who aren’t sure which character they like.
- Hunter (A-level): A hunter loved by single-player players, both melee and ranged styles are improving. Abilities like Cut and Flank Strike give melee hunters a fighting chance, while ranged players benefit from abilities like Cobra Strike and Kill Command, making them a force to be reckoned with at long range.
- Rogue (Tier B): Rogues can be frustrating in PvP, but in terms of overall DPS, they’re somewhere in the middle of the pack. They have some new tanking abilities and some ranged damage skills, but not enough to keep up with the big guys.
- Paladin (B level): Retribution Paladin has some improvements, such as Holy Storm, which is beneficial to teamfights. They have useful abilities like Horn of Lordaeron, but not enough to push them higher in the DPS rankings.
- Warrior (Tier B): The Warrior is basically the same, but with some added utility and damage capabilities. They are easy to pick up for experienced players, but may struggle to match the raw damage output of mages and warlocks.
- Shaman (C level): Shaman is a bit undisciplined and lacks a strong sense of identity early on. They have some mana regeneration and damage capabilities, but they may not match up to the top DPS classes.
- Priest (C Rank): Shadow Priests lack the power seen in later versions of the game. While they have some damaging abilities, they currently lack mana management solutions. There is potential for improvement, but not sure when that will happen.

In World of Warcraft Classic, it’s like stepping into an older version of the game. You get to experience the game as it was when it first started, without all the fancy updates and changes over the years. For players who want to see what the game was originally like, this is a blast from the past.
Gameplay in World of Warcraft Classic feels slower compared to newer versions. You have to work harder to level up, and combat feels challenging. The mission is not that simple and teamwork is very important to take down powerful enemies. For veteran players, it’s a nostalgia trip, and for new players, it’s a chance to see how the game was founded.
