Will Sasso may have only appeared in a few episodes of How I Met Your Mother, but his role as Doug the Bartender left a lasting impression. Created by Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, the hit sitcom followed Ted Mosby’s winding journey to find “the one,” all narrated from the future. In a show packed with outrageous side characters, Doug stood out as a hyper-aggressive bartender of MacLaren’s Pub with a hilariously short fuse and a strange moral code. Sasso’s comedic timing was on full display as Doug in HIMYM – whether he was tossing patrons out of the bar or dragging Ted into a wild brawl.

While Will Sasso wasn’t a central member of the How I Met Your Mother cast, he made every second of screentime count, bringing chaotic energy that clashed brilliantly with the show’s stars. Sharing scenes with Jason Segel and Josh Radnor, Sasso more than held his own and gave fans a memorable dose of unfiltered humor. While he didn’t score any awards for the role, it’s a fan-favorite performance that still gets quoted years later. For those who love their sitcoms with a side of absurdity, Doug is a reminder of why How I Met Your Mother ranks among the best Will Sasso movies and TV shows.

In 2012, Will Sasso took on the iconic role of Curly Howard in The Three Stooges, a modern reboot of the classic slapstick trio directed by the Farrelly brothers. Reimagining the antics of Larry, Moe, and Curly for a new generation was no easy task, but Sasso absolutely nailed the part. His transformation into Curly – from the voice to the mannerisms – was so eerily accurate it felt like a resurrection of the original. Sasso starred alongside Sean Hayes and Chris Diamantopoulos, and the chemistry between the trio was a true highlight.

Whether they were eye-poking, slapping, or falling face-first into chaos, the three leads brought a sense of heart to the madness. Sasso’s performance was widely praised by fans and critics alike, especially for capturing Curly’s signature physical comedy without turning it into parody. While the movie wasn’t a huge box office smash, it developed a cult following and showcased Sasso’s chops in a big-screen leading role. It’s a gutsy, physical, and incredibly fun performance that proves why this reboot deserves a spot among the best Will Sasso movies and TV shows.

ABC’s workplace comedy Less Than Perfect, created by Terri Minsky, offered Will Sasso one of his more understated – yet still laugh-out-loud – roles as Carl Monari, a quirky cafeteria worker with a heart of gold. The show followed Sara Rue’s character Claude as she navigated office politics and awkward friendships at a TV news network, and Sasso’s Carl became a fan-favorite for his offbeat wisdom and deadpan delivery. Appearing regularly from Season 2 onward, Will Sasso brought a grounded sweetness to Less Than Perfect that balanced out the zany hijinks of the newsroom.

His scenes with Zachary Levi and Andy Dick added depth to Carl, who could easily have been a forgettable side character in less capable hands. But Sasso gave Carl a lovable oddball charm – someone who wasn’t always in the spotlight but always made it better. His performance proved he could do more than sketch comedy; he could shine in an ensemble and carry the emotional beats, too. It’s another example of how the best Will Sasso movies and TV shows let him bring both laughs and heart in equal measure.

Seeing Will Sasso pop up in the gritty crime drama Justified was a surprise – and a very welcome one. Created by Graham Yost and based on Elmore Leonard’s stories, the FX series follows U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant) as he lays down the law in rural Kentucky. In Season 5 of Justified, Will Sasso made a brief but impactful appearance as Canadian drug trafficker Al Sura, showcasing a much darker side than fans were used to.

Ditching the comedic roles, Sasso leaned into the menace and cold calculation of Al, and it worked brilliantly. His scenes added an international twist to the show’s criminal underworld, and his chemistry with Olyphant was electric. It wasn’t a major role, but it proved Sasso had serious dramatic skills, and fans of Justified took notice, and critics praised the performance as a bold pivot for the actor. For anyone who thought Sasso was all laughs, Justified is a reminder that some of the best Will Sasso movies and TV shows can be surprisingly intense – and all the better for it.

In Kevin (Probably) Saves The World, Will Sasso brought an angelic twist to his comedic repertoire. The ABC dramedy, created by Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters, followed Jason Ritter as Kevin, a down-on-his-luck guy who’s tasked with saving humanity – with a little help from some celestial beings. Sasso played Dave, one of those spiritual guides, and as usual, he made his presence felt with warmth, wit, and a bit of whimsy. Appearing throughout the series, Sasso gave Dave a quiet charm and sense of purpose that stood out.

While Kevin (Probably) Saves The World itself was a mix of heartfelt and quirky, it was Dave’s serene, supportive energy that grounded some of the more fantastical moments. He shared standout scenes with Ritter and Kimberly Hébert Gregory, adding humor and depth to the ensemble. Though it only lasted one season, the series developed a loyal fanbase, and Sasso’s performance was one of the reasons why. In a more sentimental turn, it showed how even in a celestial comedy, Will Sasso could still be a scene stealer.

Will Sasso made a delightful splash on Mom during its later seasons, playing Police Officer Andy Pepper. The hit CBS sitcom, created by Chuck Lorre, followed a group of women battling addiction while navigating life, love, and recovery. By the time Sasso’s Andy showed up in Season 7, Mom had already cemented itself as one of network TV’s most heartfelt comedies – and his presence only elevated it. As a love interest for Jaime Pressly’s Jill, Sasso brought tenderness, vulnerability, and just the right dose of humor.

Andy wasn’t just comic relief in Mom. He was a grounding force, especially in scenes exploring his relationship with Jill. The chemistry between Sasso and Pressly was electric, and their storyline became one of the most talked-about in the show’s final seasons. Even while tackling serious topics like trauma and commitment, Sasso’s natural warmth shone through. His nuanced performance added emotional depth to the series, proving once again that the best Will Sasso movies and TV shows often find magic in unexpected places.

United We Fall (2020)

Will Sasso Plays Bill Ryan

Will Sasso In United We Fall

In the short-lived but seriously underrated United We Fall, Will Sasso finally stepped into the spotlight as a leading man. Created by Julius Sharpe, the ABC sitcom followed married couple Bill and Jo as they struggled to raise their two daughters while dealing with meddling in-laws and everyday chaos. As Bill Ryan, Sasso brought his signature humor to the role of a well-meaning, overwhelmed dad just trying to keep it all together. Sasso starred opposite Christina Vidal, and their chemistry was off the charts.

The charm of United We Fall rested heavily on their dynamic – loving, sarcastic, exhausted, and endlessly relatable. While the sitcom only lasted one season, it gave Will Sasso the rare chance to be the heart of a show, and he didn’t waste it. He turned in a performance full of heart, vulnerability, and hilarious physical comedy. Despite its short run, critics and fans alike applauded the show’s honest look at modern family life. It’s a perfect example of how the best Will Sasso movies and TV shows aren’t always blockbusters – sometimes, they’re cozy sitcoms that feel like home.

Created by Peter Farrelly and Bobby Mort, Loudermilk might just be one of the most criminally overlooked shows in recent years – and Will Sasso’s role as Ben is a huge reason it works. The comedy-drama stars Ron Livingston as Sam Loudermilk, a recovering alcoholic who runs a support group and isn’t exactly known for his bedside manner. As Ben, Loudermilk’s best friend and roommate, Sasso plays the heart to Sam’s grump, delivering one of the most emotionally rich performances of his career.

Sasso’s Ben is sweet, sensitive, and recovering from his own grief – a former rock drummer whose life took a hard turn. His scenes with Livingston are raw, hilarious, and packed with genuine chemistry. It’s the kind of role that lets Sasso flex his dramatic muscles while still sneaking in moments of laugh-out-loud brilliance. Over three seasons, Sasso developed Ben into one of the show’s most beloved characters. While Loudermilk never picked up major awards, it earned cult status, and Sasso’s performance is often cited as one of its strongest elements. For fans looking for something a little deeper, Loudermilk fits the bill.

Will Sasso’s turn as Jim McCallister in Young Sheldon – and sequel spin-off Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage – has become a highlight of the later chapters in the Big Bang Theory universe. Introduced in Young Sheldon Season 6 and reprising his role in the spinoff, Sasso plays Mandy’s down-to-earth, blue-collar dad with a dry wit and soft center. Created by Chuck Lorre and Steven Molaro, both series expertly mix comedy and warmth, and Sasso fits right in.

As Jim, WIll Sasso shares some of his most touching scenes with Emily Osment and Montana Jordan, who play Mandy and Georgie. Whether he’s cracking dad jokes or wrestling with the challenges of becoming a grandfather, Sasso brings depth to what could’ve been a one-note role. Fans have praised his chemistry with Rachel Bay Jones, who plays Mandy’s mom Audrey, calling them one of the best new sitcom couples on TV. Though the spinoff is still in its early days, Sasso’s performance has already been singled out for its heart and humor. It’s a testament to how, even decades into his career, Sasso keeps finding new ways to surprise viewers — and prove why Jim McCallister will forever be a career-defining role.
