After entering the Kindlewastes, head to the Amber Valley to the southwest of the Ancient Spire in the Nomadic Highlands. If you’ve explored the area before, this is a quick travel point. You can glide from Ancient Spire to Amber Valley.
In Amber Valley, look for large four-legged animals with bulging backs that resemble tall, glowing red mushrooms. These creatures are tough, so be prepared for a fierce fight. Shoot the mushroom appendages with a ranged weapon and each appendage will drop an ammonia gland. When you defeat the creature, it will drop between four and six Ammonia Glands. Be careful of Shroud areas with corrosive mist, and keep an eye on your Shroud timer.
When the creature is defeated, it leaves a small poison circle, so wait for it to dissipate unless you want to take damage. To reset the enemy count and continue searching for the Ammonia Glands, take a day off from the game between trips. Remember, after rescuing the Hunter and completing her quest line, you can use the Ammonia Glands to craft a tanning station for leather. The leather recipe includes 10 dry pelts, 20 parts salt, and two ammonia glands.
