Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is a video game released by Square Enix in 2024. It is the sequel to Final Fantasy 7 Remake and the second part of a planned trilogy to remake the 1997 game Final Fantasy 7. To find King Tonberry in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, players will first need to unlock the Corel region’s classified intelligence. This requires completing all six Fountains of Life in Corel, which is accessible after completing the Gold Saucer event in Chapter 9.
Once the area is unlocked, players should scan the Fountain of Life to discover that the Tonberry King is located in a ruined arena southeast of Corel. Be at least level 31 before attempting to fight the Tonberry King, as he is a formidable opponent.

The Tonberry King is located near the east coast south of Corel, north of Mogstool and directly south of Johnny, who will give the Tonberry Crown subquest. To quickly find Lifesprings, activate the Remnawave Towers south of Corel, which will reveal more World Intelligence locations when the red switch is activated. The player may need to use a grappling hook to access some of these towers.
Once the Tonberry King’s location is unlocked, players can summon it to battle. To obtain its crown, players need to equip a teammate with the Steal Stone (which comes with Yuffie by default), force the Tonberry King to drop its original crown, and use the Steal ability to pick it up. How to attack the Tonberry King in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth?
The Tonberry King in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has 14,220 HP on Normal difficulty and has no elemental weaknesses. To defeat it, you need to deal enough damage to put pressure on it after its attacks fail. If you have the Steal Materia equipped, you can then take advantage of the Steal ability on its original crown.
Before facing the Tonberry King, it is recommended to add at least one ranged character to your party to avoid its instant death move “Chef’s Knife”. Barret is a good choice as his ranged attacks can put pressure on the Tonberry King. You can also equip healing spells on autocast materia and auto unique ability materia on party members to automatically use special abilities.
During the fight, stay away from the front of Tonberry King to avoid him using Chef’s Knife. Head-on attacks are risky, so it’s safer to control Barret to attack from a distance. When Tonberry King falls into the Staggered state, switch to a character like Cloud, Tifa, or Red XIII to deal more damage quickly.

When Tonberry King summons regular Tonberry enemies with the Call for Friends attack, move away from them to avoid being killed by its Chef’s Knife. Finally, take your time in the fight and focus on avoiding its deadly attacks. Even without pressuring it, you can eventually defeat Tonberry King as long as you avoid its Chef’s Knife and other dangerous moves.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is the second game in the remake series based on the 1997 PlayStation original Final Fantasy VII.
