The Story of Fallout 76

The story begins in Vault 76, a bunker built to celebrate the United States’ Tricentennial. Residents are tasked with rebuilding West Virginia after nuclear war. As the player, you wake up late and embark on a journey to find the Vault 76 overseer’s camp.

To fight the Scorched Earth Plague, you work to develop a vaccine with the help of Dr. Hudson. The vaccine requires samples from mutant organisms that are resistant to plague. You also join the Firebreathers, a group focused on fighting the Scorched Earthmen. Under their guidance, you reach the top of the world and meet Rose, a reprogrammed android who sends you to find the attacker’s hideout and repair the scorched detection system.
You then discover the Brotherhood of Steel’s final stand at Fort Defiance and their mission to destroy the Scorch Beasts through nuclear strike. To obtain the necessary facilities, you encounter MODUS, an artificial intelligence from the Enclave. You perform tasks for the enclave to gain ranking and access. Eventually, you obtain a launch keycard and launch code, allowing you to launch a nuclear missile.
The launch triggers a real-time nuclear explosion, causing the Scorch Queen to appear as a terrifying foe. While there’s no story or cutscene associated with launching the nuke, it marks the end of Fallout 76’s main plot.
Where is the aluminum in Fallout 76?
Aluminum is an important material for making items such as power armor, weapons, and tools. However, it can be difficult to obtain, especially for new players. But don’t worry! We’ll walk you through the process and highlight the best places to collect aluminum.
When it comes to aluminum farming in Fallout 76, three locations stand out: Harpers Ferry, Happy Valley Ski Area (Top of the World), and Abandoned Mine 1. These areas offer valuable loot containing aluminum, which respawns when you change servers.
Located in southeastern Appalachia, Harpers Ferry is an excellent location for aluminum agriculture. It features multiple coolant caps, can scrap more than 40 aluminum scraps per run, and the area is virtually devoid of high-level enemies, ensuring a more uninterrupted farming experience.
Happy Valley Ski Area, located near the Top of the World building, is another great location for aluminum farming. There are many ski poles in the resort, and each ski pole can scrap 2 aluminum, providing a total of more than 50 aluminum scraps. Additionally, exploring the Top of the World building can generate more aluminum-containing junk materials, such as ski swords and wood chips.

“Fallout 76” gameplay
Fallout 76 marks Bethesda Game Studios’ first foray into online multiplayer. Players can choose to adventure alone or team up with up to three people. The game runs on public dedicated servers, and each player is automatically assigned to one upon joining.
Although it was initially planned to release only on public servers, executive producer Todd Howard later revealed that there were plans to introduce private servers after the game launched. These private servers provide the ability to invite friends and protect players from unwanted player-to-player interactions (such as griefing), ensuring a more enjoyable experience. This delay is considered necessary to ensure the stability of public servers.
“Fallout 76” retains the elements of the previous “Fallout” game and has a vast open world that is four times larger than “Fallout 4”. The game world, called “Appalachia,” is a faithful recreation of West Virginia and contains real-life locations such as the West Virginia State Capitol, Greenbrier, Woodburn Circle, and the New River Gorge Bridge and Camden Park.
The game introduces a series of new mutant monsters, some of which are inspired by West Virginia folklore, including the Mothman and the Flatwood Monster.

The special progression system in Fallout 76 has been revised. Character attributes are divided into seven categories: strength, perception, endurance, charm, intelligence, agility, and luck. As players level up, they can allocate skill points to enhance their attributes, ranging from 1 to 15. Perks are passive abilities that provide in-game rewards and can be selected by the player.
These benefits correspond to special categories and are represented in the form of trading cards. Each card has a value, and players can equip benefits based on their respective values. By combining similar cards, players can create more effective (albeit more costly) benefits. This system encourages players to evaluate their situation and choose perks that fit their current needs, rather than passively sticking to the same perks throughout the game.
Upon release, Fallout 76 differed from previous entries in the series by omitting human non-player characters (NPCs). Instead, all surviving humans are represented by other players. This prompted Bethesda to adopt a different approach to storytelling, as previous games relied on NPCs to assign tasks, engage in dialogue, and drive the overall narrative.
In Fallout 76, NPCs are replaced by robots, collectible holotypes, terminals, and environmental stories. Players uncover pieces of the story by exploring locations and piecing the story together on their own.
While these storytelling elements have appeared in previous Fallout games, they’re often used to provide additional backstory, separate from the main narrative. Todd Howard said this new approach allows players to create their own narratives while still allowing Bethesda to deliver a compelling story.
Although a major update introducing human NPCs was initially announced, the release was delayed. The Wastelanders update was released on April 14, 2020, finally releasing human NPCs on Steam.
Fallout 76 is based on the settlement system introduced in Fallout 4, allowing players to build bases at different locations on the map. These creations are associated with the player’s profile and saved offline to prevent loss of progress. While other players can attack these settlements while the player is online, the game uses “blueprints” to protect the player’s creation, ensuring that the player does not have to start from scratch if destruction occurs.
Nuclear weapons play an important role in Fallout 76, allowing players to temporarily alter parts of the game world. By obtaining launch codes, players can access missile silos and launch missile strikes anywhere on the map.
This causes the area to become irradiated, resulting in rare weapons, gear, and items for players to find. However, it also attracts powerful enemies that require players to be well prepared to survive in these dangerous areas. The game also includes a photo mode where players can capture memorable moments by posing their character and choosing from a variety of facial expressions and filters.
