Wasteland 3 Walkthrough

Here is the most expected walkthrough for the Wasteland 3 game.

1) Welcome to Colorado

“Welcome to Colorado” is the first primary mission in the game Wasteland 3. The objective is to find a way to the top of the dam, eliminate the Dorseys on the dam, and talk to Major Prasad. Here’s a summary of the key points:

First Battle: Upon starting the game, you’ll be thrown into a fight against the Dorsey faction. Use cover to avoid the Dorsey Warbot and focus on taking down human enemies. Major Prasad will eventually fix a turret to help you deal with the Warbot.

Time to Explore: After the initial battle, continue along the linear path towards the dam. You may encounter a Dorsey bandit showering in blood. Use stealth or take them out before being detected for an advantage.

Dorsey Stalker Hostage Situation: You’ll come across a hostage scenario where Pvt. Jodie Bell is held at gunpoint by a Dorsey Stalker. You can use persuasion skills (Hard Ass or Kiss Ass) to defuse the situation or try to eliminate the Stalker before they act.

Second Battle: Depending on how you handled the previous encounter, you may face a group of Dorsey enemies. Be cautious not to cause collateral damage, especially if there’s a hostage involved.

More Exploring: As you progress, you may find a locked chest dropped by the original Dorsey Stalker. Use skills like Nerd Stuff or Mechanics to interact with computers and deal with enemies like the Dorsey Warbot.

Third Battle: You’ll encounter Jarett Dorsey and his group. Strategically use cover and consider using oil tanks to gain an advantage in this fight.

Talk to Major Prasad: After the battle, speak with Major Prasad, injured but alive. You’ll have dialogue choices that can impact the outcome.

Recruiting Major Tomcat: Along the path to the Kodiak, you may encounter Major Tom, a cat with a ranger hat. If you saved Jodie Bell, she’ll give you cigarettes to coax him down, or you can use the Animal Whisperer skill to convince him to join. Major Tomcat will provide passive buffs and assist during friendly phases of combat.

Completing this mission progresses you to the next one, “Ranger’s Last Hope.”

2) Rangers’ Last Hope

“Rangers’ Last Hope” is the second primary mission in Wasteland 3, following the “Welcome to Colorado” mission. The main objective is to reach the Patriarch. Along the way, you’ll encounter Major Tomcat, a cat you can recruit as a follower. There are different options to persuade the cat to join you.

Upon meeting the Patriarch, you’ll have several choices on what to do with a Dorsey prisoner. You can either kill the prisoner, let the Patriarch deal with them, or use a Leadership (2) skill option to let the prisoner stand trial.

During the conversation with the Patriarch, there’s a second set of dialogue options where a First Aid (2) skill choice can provide additional context. Being polite in the conversation will earn you extra reputation with the Patriarch. However, if you choose to be confrontational and attack him, you’ll face a tough fight against the Patriarch and his elite squad.

Remember, your decisions in the game have real consequences, so choose wisely. Successfully completing this mission will lead to the next primary mission, “Home Away From Home.”

3) Home Away From Home

“Home Away From Home” is the third primary mission in the game Wasteland 3. In this mission, you need to talk to Marshal Kwon and Sergei Greatski inside the base and enter the war room to wake the base’s main systems. Before the base can become the new Ranger Headquarters, you have to deal with some angry robots and a blaring alarm.

Inside the war room, you can interact with Servitor Bots and use various dialogue options such as Kiss Ass or Sneaky Shit to access the computer without angering them. After talking to a Servitor Bot, you can interact with a computer/pillar in the center of the room and install yourself as the command. Later, the Patriarch will arrive, and after a conversation with him, the mission will be completed.

Following the completion of the mission, you can recruit up to four Rangers into your team, and at least one of them must be from your starting crew or a custom created Ranger. You can also explore the rest of Ranger HQ, where you’ll find various areas to check, loot, and interact with.

These areas include the War Room with containers to loot, the Medbay with forgotten corpses, the Armory with traps and containers, and the garage with junk and a broken Slicer Dicer bot, among others. Lastly, the mission “Cornered Rats” will be the next primary mission in both Wasteland 3 and the game’s Walkthrough.

4) Cornered Rats

“Cornered Rats” is the fourth primary mission in Wasteland 3. The objective is to talk to Sheriff Daisy in Downtown Colorado Springs and then head to the Garden of the Gods to eliminate the Dorseys. Here’s a summary of the mission:

Find Sheriff Daisy in Downtown Colorado Springs, near the pillories/stockades where Dorsey members are strung up. She will ask you to go to the Garden of the Gods to deal with the Dorsey problem and suggests bringing Lucia Wesson as a companion.

Before leaving Downtown, you can choose to free a woman’s son from execution by paying the nearby magistrate or passing a Kiss Ass skill check.

On the way to the Garden of the Gods, you’ll encounter Josiah Casady, an old man claiming the Dorseys have overrun his shop. Help him and he’ll reward you. At the Garden of the Gods, you’ll encounter Bellamy Ward, who asks for help. You can choose to talk to the Dorseys and have high-level skill choices, or simply attack them.

There are two battles in the Garden of the Gods. The first involves Dorsey Ambushers and Hunters. Use cover and take advantage of the environment to win.

The second battle involves The Beast Master, Bloodbeasts, Dorsey Hunter, Ambusher, and Dorsey Killer. You can take an alternate route to deal with Waste Wolves and use a Photon Amplification Lens to aid you in the battle. After the battles, you’ll find hostages. You have the choice to let Lucia Wesson kill Isaac Reed or arrest him. Depending on your choice, you’ll have to fight the hostages or not.

Once you leave the Garden of the Gods, Wesson will give you a new secondary mission called Frontier Justice. Return to Sheriff Daisy to complete the Cornered Rats mission and gain a reputation with the Patriarch Marshals based on your decisions.

Completing Cornered Rats progresses you to the next primary mission, Full House, which relies on completing Sheriff Daisy’s new secondary mission, Big Trouble in Little Vegas. Remember to use your skills effectively and choose wisely during conversations to have a successful mission in Wasteland 3.

5) Full House

“Full House” is a primary mission in the game Wasteland 3. The objective of the mission is to recruit personnel for Ranger HQ, specifically a Brig Jailor, a Medbay Doctor, an Armory Quartermaster, and Garage Mechanics.

To progress in the Full House mission, players must first complete other missions in Colorado Springs. By assisting Sheriff Daisy, she will help you find potential personnel for your team. Here are the missions you need to complete for each required role:

  1. Recruit Doc Parker in Colorado Springs by completing the Top Doc mission.
  2. Help Sheriff Daisy clear the Dorseys out of the Garden of the Gods in the Cornered Rats mission. This will allow you to recruit Hope Emerson as your Brig Jailor.
  3. During the Big Trouble in Little Vegas mission, you can either cut a deal with Faran Brygo or choose to arrest/kill him and rescue Marshal Delgado to recruit an Armory Quartermaster.
  4. Side with Mama Cotter during the Unwelcome Guest’s mission to hire Garage Mechanics.

Note that there may be multiple ways to recruit some of the required personnel, so players can explore different options during their gameplay.

6) Big Trouble in Little Vegas

“Big Trouble in Little Vegas” is a secondary mission in Wasteland 3 that is related to the primary mission called “Full House.” The mission involves finding Delgado, who is located at the Little Vegas Nightclub.

To progress, you’ll need to make your way to the nightclub and talk to various characters, including Faran Brygo, who might provide useful information. The mission also offers optional activities, such as gambling and completing a side mission for Shakes.

As you proceed, you’ll encounter a group of mercenaries in the backrooms of Little Vegas. You can choose to fight them or use persuasion skills to calm them down and gather information about Delgado’s whereabouts. Later, you’ll head to the Machine Shop in Downtown, where you’ll face enemies and a turret in a battle.

Talking to Mactavish in the Machine Shop will reveal more information about the Dorsey raid on Colorado Springs, and you’ll have the option to let him go, arrest him, extort money from him, or kill him. Depending on your decisions, you may need to return to Faran Brygo at Little Vegas, either siding with him or finding a peaceful way to handle the situation.

The mission concludes with a significant reputation loss with the Patriarch’s marshals if you choose to cut a deal with Brygo. Alternatively, you can find a way to arrest him and rescue Delgado without engaging in a firefight. Once the mission is completed, the primary mission “Unwelcome Guests” will become available.

7) Unwelcome Guests

“Unwelcome Guests” is the fifth primary mission in the game Wasteland 3. After leaving Little Vegas, players must talk to Gideon Reyes in Broadmoor Heights and then travel to the Bizarre to confront human smugglers.

In Broadmoor Heights, players can find rewards and loot opportunities by exploring the area, repairing a servitor, and solving puzzles. To reach the Bizarre, players must find the Kodiak vehicle on the world map and deal with random events that may lead to battles.

At the Bizarre, players encounter human smugglers in a challenging battle. After defeating the smugglers, players can release the refugees and gain access to the Bizarre. There are multiple ways to obtain a Bizarre Entrance Card, either by fighting enemies or buying it for $500.

To help the refugees reach Colorado Springs, players can find Pareidolia Jones, negotiate a price to transport them or use a creative method involving a rubber duck to lower the cost.

The mission concludes with players returning to Downtown Colorado Springs and confronting Mama Cotter about the smugglers. Depending on their choices, players will gain or lose reputation with different factions, but they will ultimately receive a garage crew and progress the story.

8) The Zealot

“The Zealot” is a primary mission in Wasteland 3 that intersects with the Reagan Reborn mission. To begin the quest, players must travel to Denver, extract Valor Buchanan from the Western Whitehouse in the Denver Ruins, and then return to the Patriarch’s Palace in Colorado Springs.

The mission starts after meeting the Patriarch early in the game. Players should be prepared and around level 9 before going after Valor. Outside Denver, they will encounter an ambush by Liberty, the Patriarch’s daughter, who warns against attacking her due to her powerful allies.

Once in Denver, players encounter a group of people who say outsiders can’t interfere while the court is in session. They can request an audience with the God-President, where certain dialogue options might be helpful.

To progress with “The Zealot,” players must first complete the Reagan Reborn mission. After making a decision about the Reagan AI, they can proceed with “The Zealot.” Depending on their choices, they may have to fight the Gippers to arrest Valor. A tough battle awaits with several enemies and turrets spread throughout the White House.

Some tips for the battles include having a dedicated medic, using smoke grenades for cover, using grenades to hit multiple enemies, and utilizing friendly robots deployed by a high-level mechanic ranger.

After defeating the Gippers and possibly a giant Statue of Reagan outside, players can return to the Patriarch in Colorado Springs and inform him that they have Valor in custody to complete the mission.

9) Reagan Reborn

“Reagan Reborn” is a primary mission in the game Wasteland 3 that intersects with “The Zealot” primary mission. The objective is to help Mother Nancy Reliance, who wants to transfer Reagon’s AI into a human. To do this, you must acquire a Cybernetic Transfer Module from the Machine Commune at the Denver Airport.

The journey starts by attending an audience with the God-President inside the Western Whitehouse in the Denver Ruins. Then, you head to the Denver Airport to retrieve the module. On the way, you encounter a group of Godfishers and have the option to fight or sneak past them.

Upon reaching the Denver Airport, you talk to GREET-0 and get directions to the Machine Intelligence Tower. After dealing with some enemies called Drools, you meet the Tower, which analyzes your previous decisions. The Tower asks that you don’t transfer Reagan’s AI for the Gippers but rather give it to them.

Returning to Mother Nancy Reliance, you encounter Waste Wolves and Growler bears along the way. When you reach the Western Whitehouse, you face a major decision:

  • Transfer the Reagan AI into Valor.
  • Transfer the Reagan AI to the Machine Commune.
  • Transfer the Reagan AI to the Ranger HQ.

Choosing the second option leads to a fight with the Gippers, while any of these decisions will complete “Reagan Reborn” and bring you back to “The Zealot” primary mission.

10) The Psychopath

“The Psychopath” is a primary mission in Wasteland 3 that intersects with “Raising a Little Hell.” To complete this mission, players must travel to Aspen and arrest Vic Buchanan, then return to the Patriarch in Colorado Springs. Before heading to Aspen, it’s essential to upgrade the Kodiak chassis to handle higher radiation and bring plenty of antidotes to deal with poison-related challenges.

Once in Aspen, the mission “Raising a Little Hell” begins, and players should follow that guide for more details. After finishing “Raising a Little Hell” and rescuing the hostages, players are back on “The Psychopath” mission. They’ll receive the Patriarch Wing Key from Ash, and they need to disable the poisonous gas traps in the Guest Suites area.

To enter the Patriarch Wing, players face a battle with turrets and enemies under Vic’s control. By using a level 7 Mechanic, they can disable generators powering the Laser Turrets. After dealing with the enemies, players can find Vic hiding in his room with a locked door. They can either convince him to surrender, recruit him as a companion, or decide to kill or arrest him.

Once the decisions regarding Vic are made, players return to the entrance of the Little Hell Lodge to have a conversation with any rescued hostages. Depending on how they handled the Breathers in “The Gift,” Ranger Pizepi may offer to join their party as a companion.

The primary mission “The Psychopath” is considered complete once players return to the Patriarch’s Palace in Broadmoor Heights and report how they handled Vic. The next primary mission in the Walkthrough is “The Traitor.”

11) Raising a Little Hell

“Raising a Little Hell” is a main mission in Wasteland 3 that overlaps with “The Psychopath” mission. The mission objectives are as follows:

  1. Speak with Woodson in Little Hell.
  2. Find a way to lower the bridge in Aspen.
  3. Cross the bridge and explore Aspen to reach the gondola building.
  4. Take the lift to Little Hell from the gondola building.
  5. Find and rescue the tortured hostages in Little Hell.

Upon entering Aspen for “The Psychopath” mission, you receive a radio call from Ranger Riley Woodson, who has been taken hostage by Vic Buchanan. The first battle ensues, where you encounter Breathers and other enemies. Defeating them grants you access to keys and computers to progress further.

You need to lower the bridge in Aspen and to do so, you must interact with a computer and make the right choices. After crossing the bridge, you can choose an alternate route, which skips some enemies and an optional battle but requires high Lockpicking and Explosives skills.

As you explore further, you encounter more battles and can find a weapons cache. Ultimately, you reach the gondola building and head up to Little Hell. There, you have to rescue hostages, some of whom require specific skills to help them, and you may encounter Ash, who gives you a key to the Patriarch Wing.

After rescuing all five hostages, you return to Ash with your choices affecting the outcome. The mission is then completed, leading back to “The Psychopath” mission.

12) The Traitor

“The Traitor” is a primary mission in Wasteland 3 that runs concurrently with the “Sand in the Gastank” mission. The main objectives are to find Liberty Buchanan, meet Angela Deth’s agent at Ranger HQ, defend against the Scar Collectors’ attack at the HQ, meet Angela Deth at The Hoon Homestead, and then go to Yuma County to either capture or kill Liberty Buchanan.

After meeting Angela Deth’s agent at Ranger HQ, you will be attacked by the Scar Collectors. You must defend against them, and later you’ll meet Angela Deth at The Hoon Homestead. She will reveal her plan to take down the Patriarch as well.

You will have to make a crucial decision regarding whose side you will take – Angela Deth, the Patriarch, or Ranger Command. Another significant decision comes after completing the “Sand in the Gastank” mission, which will determine the path and various endings for the game.

Next, you must go to Yuma County to find Liberty Buchanan. You’ll receive a call from The Mechanic, who will start the “Sand in the Gastank” mission. Afterward, you’ll face two battles with the Dorseys while storming Liberty’s compound.

Once you reach Liberty Buchanan, there are different options to handle the situation, including using persuasion skills or engaging in combat. After the battle with Liberty, you can arrest or kill her and release Lucia’s Dad, Percival Wesson, who was being held captive.

Finally, you’ll return to Colorado Springs and receive a radio call from Angela Deth, where you make your final decision on whose side you support, leading to specific endings for the game. The completion of “The Traitor” mission will then start the “Promises Made, Promises Kept” primary mission.

13) Sand in the Gastank

“Sand in the Gastank” is a primary mission in the game Wasteland 3, which is connected to another mission called “The Traitor.” The objective of this mission is to create discord between the different gangs in Yuma County to make it easier to confront Liberty Buchanan.

When you progress into “The Traitor” mission, Angela Deth directs you to Yuma County to locate Liberty Buchanan. Upon approaching Yuma County, you will receive a radio call from a man called The Mechanic. You will have a conversation with him in his garage, which triggers the start of the “Sand in the Gastank” mission.

The Mechanic offers assistance by suggesting that you set the gangs against each other, which will help you get to Liberty more easily. This action leads to two new secondary missions: “Gods and Clowns” and “Canary in the Coal Mine.”

In the “Gods and Clowns” mission, you need to talk to Payaso and the followers and slaves of the Godfisher camp in the pen at Yuma County Speedway. Then, you have to fight through the Godfisher Kite Shrine at the wind farm to find Cucaracha’s body. After that, you show Cucaracha’s body to Risky Brisket at Meat Clown near the base of the wind farm.

In the “Canary in the Coal Mine” mission, you must talk to a Scar Collector slave in the pen near Yuma County Speedway. Next, investigate the area near The Company Store at the Scar Collector Mine for evidence of trouble.

Follow the trail of dried blood toward the Scar Collector Mine, defeat the Scar Collectors inside their mine, and talk to Dee Sharp in the Scar Collector Mine. Then, you need to talk to Dee Sharp again, this time in The Company Store near the Scar Collector Mine.

Completing these secondary missions will fulfill the “Sand in the Gastank” mission and make “The Traitor” mission easier. Once “Sand in the Gastank” is finished, you can return to “The Traitor” mission and launch an attack on Liberty’s compound.

14) Promises Made, Promises Kept

“Promises Made, Promises Kept” is the final primary mission in Wasteland 3. In this walkthrough, you must return to Ranger HQ, retake control of it, and find a way into Downtown Colorado Springs. Depending on your previous choices, you’ll either side with Angela Deth or the Patriarch, leading to different endings.

Upon returning to Colorado Springs, Ranger HQ is in chaos with a battle between different factions. You’ll need to regain control by defeating those who oppose your decision, even if it means fighting against named characters you recruited. After securing Ranger HQ, you’ll need to unlock the vehicle elevator to access Downtown.

In Downtown, you’ll encounter Wastelander Refugees protesting against the Patriarch’s Marshals. Your reputation with the refugees will affect how the encounter plays out. Afterward, you’ll explore the burning and ravaged city. You can interact with unarmed refugees inside a building, and your choices will determine how the situation unfolds.

Moving forward, you’ll witness a confrontation between Angela Deth and the Patriarch. To proceed, you’ll disable the museum’s alarm and confront Angela Deth and the Patriarch. Depending on your dialogue choices, you may avoid a fight or engage in a battle. If you choose to resolve peacefully, Angela Deth will be arrested, and the game concludes with an ending showcasing your decisions throughout the game.

15) Gangs All Here

“Gangs All Here” is the final primary mission in Wasteland 3, an alternative to the “Promises Made, Promises Kept” mission. To trigger this path, you need to bring Ironclad Cordite with you to Liberty Buchanan, and he’ll offer to bring his gangs to Colorado Springs. This choice leads to the “Gangs All Here” mission.

In this mission, you lead the gangs to Colorado Springs and work against the Patriarch. Returning to Ranger HQ, you face opposition from some companions who disagree with your decision. After settling the dispute, you must retake control of Ranger HQ by disabling three alarms.

Moving on to Downtown Colorado Springs, you encounter Sheriff Daisy and a fight ensues against hostile gangs. After dealing with them, you proceed to the Patriarch’s museum. Inside, you disable the alarm and confront the Patriarch, engaging in a tough battle.

Upon defeating the Patriarch, he appears to take his own life. Ironclad Cordite then suggests taking over Kansas with his gangs, a unique ending if you brought Cordite with you to Yuma County.

Wasteland 3 DLC

For those looking for even more content, the Wasteland 3 Expansion Pass provides access to both expansions, including “The Battle of Steeltown” and “Cult of the Holy Detonation.” These DLCs enrich the game’s experience by introducing additional locations, characters, combat scenarios, and systems, thus expanding the Rangers’ mission while they explore the post-apocalyptic landscapes of Colorado.

Wasteland 3: The Battle of Steeltown is the first narrative expansion for the highly acclaimed game Wasteland 3 by inXile Entertainment. In this expansion, the manufacturing complex of Steeltown faces a major crisis, causing operations to halt. The Rangers, responsible for maintaining order in Colorado, must take action to restore the complex and ensure the state continues to function properly.

“Cult of the Holy Detonation” is another expansion that adds more content to Wasteland 3. This expansion takes players into the Cheyenne Mountain complex, offering new challenges and objective-based encounters that put a unique twist on the tactical turn-based combat the game is known for.
