The Flash ending and post-credits scenes explained
Before the post-credits scene, there’s a final scene that could easily have been a post-credits scene, but it didn’t resonate with many viewers. In this scene, The Flash travels back in time to help his wrongfully imprisoned father and say goodbye to his mother.
He returned to his “theoretical” present and left the court with a sense of satisfaction that he had set things right. However, his happiness is interrupted when he gets a call from Bruce Wayne, who tells him he’s hitting the road in his new futuristic Mercedes-Benz.
The difference is that the Batman who steps out of the car is not Ben Affleck’s version, but the Batman played by George Clooney from the widely panned 1997 film “Batman & Robin.” The scene ends with Barry’s teeth accidentally falling out of their dentures. The moment is essentially a joke and a cameo from DC’s past, as Clooney won’t be reprising his role as Batman in future films.
Moving on to the post-credits scene, which also lacks relevance to the future of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), we see Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen (The Flash) walking around drunk Drunk Arthur Curry (Aquaman) leaving a bar, played by Jason Momoa.
The Flash tells Aquaman about his time travel experiences in different realities, explaining that each reality has a different Batman, but Aquaman remains the same. Aquaman clumsily falls into the pool, where he feels at home and rings the bell for The Flash. Flash decides to go home, leaving Neptune behind who is too drunk to walk.
This ending is a somewhat ambiguous excuse for Jason Momoa to return as Aquaman in the upcoming film Aquaman and the Fallen Kingdom, which is set to be released in December 2023. This will be the last DCEU movie before the 2024 hiatus, making way for James Gunn’s new DC Universe (DCU) to launch in 2025, which will include the Superman Legacy movie.

What does the Flash Post post-credits scene mean?
By the end of the film, it appears that Barry has successfully corrected his previous mistakes. In the post-credits scene, Barry tries to explain his journey through the multiverse to Arthur (Aquaman), but Arthur just asks for a beer, implying that he’s not interested in complicated explanations. The purpose of this scene is mainly to remind fans that the upcoming movie “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” will be released in theaters on December 20, 2023.
In this scene, Barry, still excited about his multiverse adventures, tries to share his experiences with Arthur. However, instead of showing curiosity or engaging in in-depth conversation, Arthur casually dismissed Barry’s explanation and humorously asked for another beer.
This humorous interaction highlights the differences in perspectives and priorities between the two characters. Barry wants to delve into the complexities of the multiverse, and Arthur responds with ease, emphasizing their contrasting personalities.
Additionally, including this end credits is a smart marketing strategy. It serves as a trailer for the upcoming Aquaman and the Fallen Kingdom movie, reminding viewers of its release date and building anticipation.
By having Arthur appear in the scene, albeit in a relaxed and alcohol-induced state, it strengthens the connection between The Flash and the upcoming Aquaman sequel, effectively promoting the latter and further attracting the DCEU fans.

The Flash post-credits scene explained
In the story, Dark Lightning makes a decision that in order for their mother to live, future Barry must die. However, past Barry selflessly chose to sacrifice himself to save future Barry. By doing so, past Barry not only saved his future self, but also eliminated the Dark Flash’s existence.
As the story unfolds, it becomes clear that the Dark Flash is driven by a desire to change the past, believing that eliminating future Barry is necessary to ensure their mother’s survival. This sparked a tense confrontation between the two versions of Barry Allen.
At critical moments, the past Barry showed brave and selfless behavior. Recognizing the importance of protecting his own existence and temporal continuity, past Barry made the ultimate sacrifice. By intervening and sacrificing himself, past Barry disrupted the Dark Flash’s plans and ensured his future self’s survival.
The consequences of past Barry’s self-sacrifice are twofold. First, future Barry is saved from impending death, allowing him to continue his journey and potentially rectify the events leading up to this pivotal moment. Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, Barry’s sacrifice in the past removed the Dark Flash’s existence. This means that the alternate version of Barry, consumed by the darkness and willing to make drastic choices, will be erased from the timeline.
This turn of events demonstrates the redemptive power of selflessness and emphasizes the importance of maintaining the natural flow of time. Past Barry’s choice to save future Barry not only ensures his survival, but also eliminates the threat posed by the Dark Flash. It represents a major victory in the battle of light and darkness in Barry Allen’s personal journey.

The Flash plot
After helping Bruce Wayne and Diana Prince foil a bank robbery orchestrated by Al Falcone’s terrorist group in Gotham City, Barry Allen looks back on his childhood with his parents, Nora and Henry memory.
Overwhelmed by his emotions, Barry inadvertently triggers a time travel using the Speed Force. He confides in Bruce about his actions despite Bruce’s warnings of the potential consequences of interfering with Time. Determined to save his mother from a tragic fate, Barry travels back to the day Nora died and prevents it from happening.
After returning to reality, Barry was suddenly expelled from the Speed Force by another Speedster and found himself in an alternate 2013, where his mother was still alive. He meets his past self and realizes that he has traveled to the day when he first gained his superpowers.
The two go to the Central City Police Department together, where Barry convinces his 2013 counterpart to be struck by lightning, recreating the accident that gave him his powers.
As a result, 2013 – Barry gained superhuman abilities while Barry himself lost his powers. As the Barrys try to train their younger selves on how to control their newfound powers, they witness a broadcast of General Zod’s planned invasion of Earth. They try to form the Justice League, but encounter obstacles such as Diana’s absence, Victor Stone’s accident that hasn’t happened yet, and Arthur Curry’s non-existence.
While searching for Batman, they arrive at Wayne Manor and encounter an older version of Bruce Wayne who has retired from fighting crime. Bruce reveals that changing the timeline through time travel affects not only future events, but also what happened in the past, clarifying the timeline changes that Barry noticed. With Bruce’s help, the two Barrys convince him to help them find Kal-El (Superman).
Using a secret connection with NASA within the Batcave, Barry and Bruce manage to locate a Kryptonian pod that was reported to have been discovered in Siberia. However, instead of finding Kal-El, they found his cousin Kara Zor-El.
After rescuing Kara, Barry pleads with Bruce to help him regain his powers by recreating the original accident. Although the initial attempt failed and nearly killed Barry, Kara led him into the storm, resulting in a successful lightning strike that restored his powers. The Barrys, along with Kara and Bruce, prepare to fight Zod’s army.
During the battle, Kara learned that Zod had intercepted and killed young Kal-El in an attempt to retrieve the genetic codex needed to reproduce the Kryptonian species. Zod reveals that the Codex exists in Kara’s blood, leading to a conflict in which Zod defeats and kills Kara, seizing the Codex. Unfortunately, Bruce was also killed in the conflict.
In order to change the fate of their dead allies, the Barrys embarked on time travel, but could not change the outcome. Although Barry realizes that their efforts are in vain, 2013-Barry persists in his attempt, traveling through time repeatedly. As 2013-Barry continues his journey, the multiverse begins to collapse in on itself.
Eventually, the dark speedster who originally knocked Barry out of the Speed Force was revealed to be a future version of 2013 Barry. Driven by the belief that he can save the world from Zod and prevent Bruce and Kara’s death, the dark speedster explains the paradoxical cycle that led to his own existence. However, tensions rise when Barry reveals his intention to restore the timeline by allowing Nora to die.
Fueled by rage, the Dark Speedster attempted to kill Barry, but inadvertently impaled 2013-Barry, sacrificing himself and erasing the Dark Speedster from the timeline.
Later, Barry reversed the changes he made to the timeline and accepted the reality of his mother’s death. However, he makes a small change in the past that provides new evidence for Henry’s innocence in the present.
After successfully clearing his father’s name, Barry received a communication from Bruce, and Bruce’s appearance changed again due to Barry’s actions. In a post-credits scene, Barry shares his multiverse experiences with a drunken Arthur Curry (Aquaman).
