Will Smith playing Genie was definitely a huge draw for audiences, one that paid off, as his performance is arguably the best part of the movie. Additionally, while the original animated version is considered one of Disney’s best animated movies, its story exhibits some cultural stereotypes, providing a real reason to make a better version of it.
