The film premiered at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival in June 2023 and was released in the United States later that month. Ruby dives into the sea to learn about her side as a sea monster and is helped by her grandmother. She ignores her mother’s warnings and sets out to find the powerful trident. The ending teaches us the importance of honesty.

Ruby Gilman Teen Siren Conspiracy

In the small town of Oceanside, 16-year-old sea monster Ruby Gillman tries to fit in with the humans. Her mother Agatha doesn’t want her to attend the dance on a boat because it’s in the ocean. Ruby’s friends convince her to propose to her crush, Connor, but she accidentally knocks him into the water.

She saves him, but new girl Chelsea takes the credit. Ruby discovers she is a sea monster and accidentally destroys the library. Panicked, she flees and meets her grandmother, who reveals to her the truth about Ruby’s royal lineage and being a mermaid. Ruby decides not to take the throne, but learns to control her powers.

Later, she is attacked by a sailor, but is saved by Chelsea, who turns out to be the evil mermaid queen Nerissa. Chelsea tricks Ruby into helping her get a powerful trident to take revenge on the sea monster. At the ball, Ruby battles Nerissa, revealing her secret to everyone.

With the help of her family, Ruby destroyed the Trident and defeated Nerissa. She reconciled with her mother and became the protector of Oceanside, while also beginning a relationship with Connor. Eventually, life returned to normal, but Ruby’s family was now more respected in the town.
