Pokémon trading card game gameplay
The Pokémon Trading Card Game is a strategy card game in which players take on the role of Pokémon trainers. Played on a designated play mat, each player selects an active Pokémon and battles their opponent’s active Pokémon. A Pokémon is considered “knocked out” if it takes enough damage to reach or exceed its health points. The winner of the battle will receive a prize card, usually one for each opponent’s knocked-out Pokémon.
Some special card mechanics offer higher prize card rewards. The goal is to collect six prize cards for an instant win. Alternatively, a player can win by knocking out all of their opponent’s bench Pokémon or by their opponent being unable to draw cards from their deck during the turn.
