Phoenix White: Ace Attorney gameplay
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney is a game in which players take on the role of new lawyer Phoenix Wright. They defend their clients in five cases, which can be taken in any order after completing them once. Each case begins with a film showing the murder, and then Phoenix defends the suspect in court.
The game has two parts: investigation and court trial. During the investigation, players talk to characters to gather information and evidence. They can examine things in their environment and move to different places. Players use evidence to gain new information from witnesses.

In the fifth scenario, players can scrutinize the evidence, rotating and zooming in on it using touchscreen controls. They can also use forensic testing to look for clues at crime scenes. Players spray luminol to reveal hidden bloodstains and use aluminum powder to look for fingerprints. Then they blew into the microphone, revealing their fingerprints.
During a court trial, players attempt to prove their client’s innocence by cross-examining witnesses. They look for lies and inconsistencies in witness testimony and present evidence that contradicts them. Players can choose to question witnesses for more details or provide evidence by using voice commands or waving the Wii Remote. They must also answer questions from the judge, witnesses or prosecutors. If they make too many mistakes, their client is found guilty and they have to start over. Winning a case unlocks a new case.
