The story of Persona 5 Tactica unfolds simultaneously with the events of Persona 5 (2016). It tells the story of the Phantom Thieves of Hearts who find themselves in an alternate world full of war and oppression. To solve this problem, they join forces with a group of freedom fighters called the Rebels to lead a revolution against the oppressive Legion.
Gameplay adopts the standard features of a strategy RPG, including grid-based navigation, a weapon affinity system, and turn-based combat. It also incorporates familiar mechanics from the Persona series, such as summoning and fusing characters, and elemental affinities.

Persona 5 Tactics Game
Persona 5 Tactica is a tactical role-playing video game in which players control a team of up to three characters on a grid map filled with enemy units. The game uses a turn-based combat system, with players directly confronting enemies at the beginning of an encounter.
During the battle, players will guide Erina, a core member of the Phantom Thieves of Hearts and captain of the Rebel Legion. Characters can strategically seek cover during combat to reduce or completely prevent incoming damage. Actions can be taken at any point on the grid, and characters can choose to end a turn early to have beneficial effects in the next turn.
Combat features close-range physical attacks that push enemies across the grid. In addition, characters can use gun attacks to hit enemies from a distance, and some characters can target multiple enemies with a single shot. The Phantom Thieves can summon characters during battle and use various skills at the cost of consuming skill points (SP). Similar to Persona 5, these abilities have different elemental affinities that affect how enemies move within an area.
When a character successfully attacks an enemy that is not in cover, the enemy is knocked down, giving the player an extra turn, called “1 More.” If at least one enemy is downed and surrounded by allied units, forming a triangle formation on the grid, players can launch a powerful “triple threat” attack that deals massive damage to all enemies within the triangle.
Players can collect additional characters throughout the game and equip them as sub-characters of their character, providing additional skills. These characters can be obtained as combat rewards or by fusing multiple characters together, adding a layer of strategy to character customization and combat.
