In the last refuge, find Elder Elsa, who will give you a side quest called “Elsa’s Ledger”. Accept the quest from Elder Elsa to start the quest.
Retrieve Elsa’s account book:
Follow the quest instructions to reach the Elsa Library marked on the map. Go through the area, killing the cultists and void monsters. Collect Elsa’s ledger from the designated location in the library.
Return to the meeting room:
After obtaining the account book, return to the meeting room in the last shelter.

How to get the gambler’s fallacy in the last era
Activate the “Elsa’s Ledger” side quest:
- After being teleported to the Age of Destruction, go to the Last Sanctuary in Act 2. Find the NPC Elder Elsa in the Last Sanctuary, who will offer the side quest “Elsa’s Account Book”. Accept Elder Elsa’s quest.
Enter Erza’s library:
- Follow the quest markers on the map to reach the designated area, Elsa’s library. Go all the way forward and defeat the cultists and void monsters along the way.
Recover the Elder’s Ledger:
- In Elsa’s library, find and retrieve the Elder’s Ledger. Make sure to explore the marked area thoroughly.
Return to the meeting room:
- Return to the Council Chamber in the Last Refuge.

Decision time – choose Artem:
- Once you return to the Council Chamber, you will need to make a choice. Choose to give the ledger to Artem instead of Elder Erza.
Receive the gambler’s fallacy:
- Choosing Artem as the recipient of the Ledger will grant you the Gambler’s Fallacy, a unique set of gloves in Last Epoch. These gloves have a critical strike mechanic that guarantees a critical strike every four seconds after your last critical strike, but the chance of a critical strike is halved after a critical strike.
Previous Era
Last Epoch is an Early Access hack-and-slash action RPG developed by Eleventh Hour Games (EHG). The game’s journey began in April 2018, when a free playable demo was released as part of Last Epoch’s Kickstarter campaign. Subsequently, in April 2019, a beta version was opened through Steam Early Access. A full release was initially planned for April 2020, but was later rescheduled to Q4 2020, marking a shift in the game’s timeline.
It is worth noting that in October 2020, the developer announced the cancellation of the Mac client due to the expected challenges of Apple’s switch to ARM-based processors. After that, in December 2020, EHG announced another delay, pushing the release of Last Epoch to 2021. In March 2023, the multiplayer beta version was launched, and in October 2023, it was officially confirmed that the full version of the game will be released on February 21, 2024.
