Lacey Chabert’s 10 Best Movies And TV Shows

Lacey Chabert

’s best movies and TV shows cover a wide range of her career. Since Chabert has been acting since she was just a little girl, she has a much longer resume than some actors of the same age. She got her start in commercials and soap operas and even appeared on the Broadway stage before landing a plum primetime role, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Today, Chabert is the undisputed queen of the Hallmark Channel. She has found herself as the actor, sometimes writer, and often, producer of movies for the network. Chabert has found a niche in the acting world that works for her after spending her formative years on television. Chabert has the charm for romantic comedies but is equally capable of carrying the weight of dramas. That makes her a natural fit for the network that never shies away from the expected happy ending for its character. As a result, there are a few Hallmark projects among Lacey Chabert’s best movies and TV shows.

An Unexpected Valentine (2025)

Lacey Chabert As Hannah

Close

Since Lacey Chabert began devoting most of her professional time to the Hallmark Channel in 2014, she has become its most recognizable star, appearing in its usual romances, dramas, and holiday fare as well as hosting her own series on their streaming platform, Hallmark+. An Unexpected Valentine is her first Hallmark offering of 2025, released on the network as part of its Valentine’s Day programming.

The movie sees Lacey Chabert as Hannah, a woman who helps develop new chocolate flavors for a company – despite not liking chocolate. On the night of a big celebration for the company, she hops in a ride-share with a group of other people heading out to celebrate Valentine’s Day. After finding an engagement ring in the back of the car, she and the driver team up to retrace all of his drop-offs to find the owner of the ring so their night and plans for a proposal are not ruined.

The movie acts almost like a scavenger hunt as the main characters set off throughout the city to cooking classes, food trucks, and local bars, seeing all the different activities other people are participating in for the holiday. Chabert is charming here, and it’s clear Hallmark has helped her hone her best romantic comedy skills. While some of her earlier movies with the network have much cheesier elements to them, An Unexpected Valentine is Chabert at her best.

Another Hallmark movie for Lacey Chabert, Christmas Quest was made for Hallmark’s Mystery channel and is a new addition to her best holiday movies. While it is set during the holiday season, it is not exactly the typical rom-com fare that the network employs for the holidays. Instead, this is an adventure movie and one that would certainly be fun to see Chabert do sequels for.

The movie follows an archaeologist who has been teaching at a university and her ex-husband, who happens to be an expert in Norse language as they embark on an adventure in Iceland. They investigate the legend of the Yule Lads, trying to track down a legendary treasure before others find it first.

Christmas Quest is even more of a scavenger hunt than An Unexpected Valentine as the characters are forced to follow historical clues to new locations around Iceland. It’s a much more action-oriented movie than Chabert has done in recent years. While she filmed several thrillers and horror movies in the early 2000s, she has been firmly planted in the romance genre thanks to her work with Hallmark.

Here, she has fantastic chemistry with Kristoffer Polaha as her ex. She is also completely convincing as she rattles off historical information for the benefit of the audience and pulls some spy-like shenanigans to get into places she should not.

Chabert has had a surprisingly prolific career as a voice over artist in addition to her usual live-action acting roles. She has appeared in numerous animated movies, shows, and even video games to voice characters. It’s something she has been doing since she first started acting as a child, but it is not as well known as her becoming the queen of Hallmark.

For Netflix’s adaptation of Voltron, Chabert is not one of the series regulars. She does, however, appear in the paladins’ journeys to save the universe multiple times. That is because Chabert voices at least four different characters throughout the series. While some of those are one-off appearances, others recur throughout the animated series. Chabert has a very sweet voice, allowing her to sound like a Disney princess even as she is playing a resistance fighter or a soldier.

Anastasia is often mistaken for being a Disney princess movie. The animated movie is one of the most beloved animated musicals of the 1990s, but it was made by Fox instead of Disney. With Disney now owning the company that made it, Anastasia might technically be a princess under Disney’s umbrella, but she is not part of their official princess line-up.

The movie follows a young woman named Anya after the fall of the royal family in the Soviet Union. Anya is an orphan, and a pair of con artists attempt to use her to snag the reward for finding the lost princess Anastasia. As they teach her about Anastasia’s extended family, they are surprised to discover that she might really be the princess, causing Rasputin to return from beyond the grave to go after her.

Dimitri in Anastasia is a better example of a Disney prince than any of the others, from The Prince in Snow White to Kristoff in Frozen.

While Meg Ryan voices the adult version of Anya, Lacey Chabert gives voice to the young version of the character in certain scenes when Anastasia is still a child living in the palace. She is not in the movie for long, as Kirsten Dunst provides most of the speaking voice for the child version of the character. Chabert sings for Dunst though, contributing to the role and helping to make Anastasia one of the most relatable animated princesses.

Anastasia was nominated for two Oscars and two Golden Globes.

Though the Marvel Cinematic Universe version of Spider-Man is the one fans are used to seeing on the screen today, there have been numerous adaptations of the character and his comic book stories. The Spectacular Spider-Man might have only lasted for two seasons, but it drew inspiration from many different comic book runs to bring the characters from the pages to life.

Chabert voices Gwen Stacy, who has not been brought to the screen in adaptations as often as characters like Mary Jane Watson. Gwen is the best friend to Peter Parker. She is smart and capable and nurses a huge crush on Peter. Chabert’s charming delivery of her lines helps to make Gwen likable even as Peter continually has to choose between Gwen and other love interests throughout the series.

Though the series is relatively short for an animated show, Gwen evolves into a more confident character by the end of the series, having her own arc outside of being Peter’s love interest.

Hallmark does not often do sequels to its movies, but Chabert has been in a fair few of them. The Wedding Veil is one of her few movies that has had multiple sequels because the movie’s premise takes the idea of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants’ magical pair of jeans and applies it to a wedding veil.

Chabert and her friends come in possession of a wedding veil that legend says will allow the person who has it to find their true love. While the first movie focuses on Chabert’s Avery, each movie focuses on a different woman as they find love.

Each of the movies in the two trilogies for The Wedding Veil allows the stories to explore different Hallmark character types and different types of romances while still giving the audience the happy ending they expect. The movie franchise has become hugely popular for the network with six movies (so far). Chabert has also pulled double duty on the franchise as both an actor and executive producer.

One voiceover role that millennials might recognize Lacey Chabert in is the Nickelodeon series The Wild Thornberrys. The series spawned movies and video games as well and was very popular for kids of a certain age.

The Nickelodeon animated show follows the Thornberry family on their adventures in remote locations. Their father is the host of nature documentaries, appearing on camera while his wife is in charge and frequently saves him from dangerous situations. Their daughters are simply along for the “wild” ride.

Chabert provides the voice of Eliza and much of the series is told from her point of view. Eliza is just as interested in the natural world as her parents are, which often leads to her going off on her own adventures and just making it back to her family in the nick of time. Chabert voices Eliza as optimistic, excited about the world around her, and just a little awkward as she comes of age in the “wild” settings.

The series was nominated for a Daytime Emmy for Oustanding Children’s Program.

Because of a huge chunk of Chabert’s career involving Hallmark, it’s no surprise that there are many Hallmark projects among Chabert’s best movies. The Color of Rain is one of her earliest Hallmark original movies. It is also widely recognized as one of the best Hallmark movies of all time.

The Color of Rain is both a love story and an exploration of grief. Chabert stars opposite Warren Christie in the romance, both as parents of young children who have recently lost their spouses. They bond as they try to move their families forward and fall in love. As they work to blend their two families, they find that not everyone is happy with their new relationship.

Though most of Chabert’s Hallmark movies 10 years later are more comedic, this one leans farther onto Hallmark’s dramatic end of the spectrum. Chabert is able to pull plenty of tears out of the audience, but the charisma that she has in her later Hallmark projects is here as well. The Color of Rain provides the starting point for who she would become for the network.

Before landing the role as Claudia on Party of Five, Lacey Chabert was already an accomplished child actor. She had been in soap operas, appeared on Reading Rainbow, had booked several commercials, and had already played the child version of Cosette (and sometimes, Gavroche) on Broadway in Les Misérables. Party of Five, however, became her breakout role. Becoming a series regular on a primetime drama truly launched her career.

Party of Five follows the Salinger children as they adapt to their new lives after both of their parents are killed in a car accident. The eldest brother (Matthew Fox) takes over their family restaurant and cares for the siblings. Little sister Claudia is Chabert’s character. She is a musical prodigy and many of her storylines involve her studying her craft as she grows up under unusual circumstances.

Every episode of Party of Five pulls at the heartstrings of the audience. Most of the cast was young and relatively inexperienced, so the drama allowed all of them to hone their acting skills, even Chabert. Chabert grew up on the series, and the show helped mold her into the actor she is today.

The series won a Golden Globe for Best TV Drama in 1996.

Though Chabert has continuously acted since appearing in Mean Girls, the movie cements her legacy as an actor.

Mean Girls is the teen comedy of a generation, so it’s likely no surprise that it is also Lacey Chabert’s best movie. Yes, she has given more dramatic performances in some of her Hallmark movies. She has also dealt with darker subject matter in some of her other roles. Mean Girls, however, makes Chabert a teen movie icon and shows off her comedy chops.

The movie follows Cady (Lindsay Lohan) as she moves from an unspecified African nation where she was home-schooled to the United States and is introduced to cliques and just how vicious teenage girls can be to one another. That viciousness comes in the form of the Plastics – Regina (Rachel McAdams), Karen (Amanda Seyfried), and Gretchen (Lacey Chabert).

While Regina is the queen of mean, Karen and Gretchen are her loyal friends who follow Regina’s rules to maintain their power and popularity. Cady provides a threat to that and allows Chabert to play an increasingly unraveling and stressed-out Gretchen. She is perfect in the role, at turns playing a sweet and supportive friend before becoming completely unhinged.

Mean Girls has some of the most iconic lines in teen movies, has its own holiday (it’s October 3), and has been adapted into a Broadway musical and a 2024 movie musical. Though Chabert has continuously acted since appearing in Mean Girls, the movie cements her legacy as an actor.
