[Chorus]trust issues, soaking paper towels lying to my sister, saying “I don’t want you” no closure, just getting older but you still see me as a kid on your shoulders it’s just anatomy, you’re only half me but still, You don’t know me at all and you’ve always been a missing part of me, so why don’t you miss me?I guess I meant less than I thought it’s just anatomy Hating that you’re half me
[Verse 2]Hate people saying our noses are the same so I went and had it changed like three quarters of Los Angeles I dated terrible people because of the way you treated your mom Now I’m with a good guy but I still feel numb ‘reason
[Chorus]Trust issues, I soaked up tissues and lied to my sister like I never missed you Said you’d come visit Empty promises God I wish you’d be honest for once It’s just anatomy You’re only half of me But still, you Don’t know me at all you’ve been a missing part of me so why don’t you miss me?I guess I meant less than I thought it’s just anatomy Hating that you’re half me
[Outro]It’s just anatomy, you’re half of me. But, you don’t know me at all. You’ve always been the missing part of me, so why don’t you miss me?I guess I meant less than I thought it’s just anatomy Hating that you’re half mine

A daughter longs for her father’s love
Kenzie’s “Anatomy” is a poignant and introspective ballad that delves into the singer’s complicated relationship with her father. The song explores Kenzie’s emotional turmoil and unresolved issues caused by her father’s absence or emotional distance in her life.
In the first verse, the song begins with Kenzie receiving a call from her father on what seems like a normal day, but it’s clear that their relationship is strained. She calls him a “stranger,” highlighting the emotional distance between them. Despite the passage of time, their relationship is still far from normal.
The chorus exposes the raw emotions Kenzie faces—trust issues, unresolved feelings, and the feeling that her father isn’t as important as she thought. The use of “soaked tissues” shows that she shed many tears over their strained relationship. She also expressed frustration with the fact that despite being related as father and daughter, he didn’t really know her. Kenzie feels incomplete without him, but his absence and lack of understanding leave her feeling unfulfilled.
The second poem delves into Kenzie’s efforts to distance herself from her father’s influence and her struggle to create meaningful connections in her romantic life. She even changed her appearance to avoid being reminded of her father due to her physical resemblance. Her past experiences with her father influenced her choices in relationships, leading her to date people who treated her poorly. Although she is now with a good man, she still carries the emotional numbness from her father’s actions.
In the outro, the repetition of “It’s just anatomy, you make up half of me, but you still don’t know me” reinforces the song’s central theme. Despite their blood relationship, Kenzie feels emotionally disconnected from her father. The hurt and frustration are palpable as she questions why her father doesn’t seem to miss her or fully understand her.
Anatomy powerfully explores the impact of a strained father-daughter relationship and its lasting impact on Kenzie’s emotions and self-perception. The song intimately expresses her feelings of abandonment, longing for a meaningful connection with her father, and her struggle to find her own identity in the emotional void he left behind. Through her vulnerable lyrics and emotional delivery, Kenzie offers a glimpse into her personal struggles and invites listeners to reflect on their own relationships and sense of self.
