John Krasinski’s 10 Best Movies And TV Shows

John Krasinski’s best movies and TV shows go far beyond his star-making role as Jim on The Office, showcasing his incredible career over the years. The American actor started his professional acting career with bit parts in movies and shows, but landing the role as prankster paper salesman Jim Halpert on The Office helped to make him a Hollywood name. From there, Krasinski went on to prove he was more than just a sitcom star with a number of notable projects on the big screen and small screen.

Krasinski has stepped behind the camera several times as a director, most notably with the A Quiet Place movies, but he still seems focused on his acting. John Krasinski was already an established star when he took on a small role in Kathryn Bigelow’s true-crime ensemble Detroit. The movie details the events of the Algiers Motel incident that took place during the 12th Street Riot in the titular city in 1967. The film follows various characters who were involved in the incident which saw a group of police officers detaining several people in a motel room and subjecting them to endless torment, eventually killing three African-American men.

Though Krasinski only appears briefly during the movie’s climax, it is a noteworthy role for how different it is from his usual characters. Krasinski plays Attorney Auerbach, the aggressive defense lawyer who defends the police officers in court, putting the blame on the survivors of the incident. Krasinski’s role adds to the frustrating feeling of the story, which is a harrowing saga of racial injustice and corruption of power.

John Krasinski teamed up with an Oscar-winning filmmaker for a charming and sweet comedy-drama. Away We Go stars Krasinski as Burt and Maya Rudolph as Verona, a young couple expecting their first child together. Looking ahead at their new lives as parents, the duo set out on a road trip across the country to find the ideal place to make their new home and start their new life. Along the way, they interact with other people, getting different perspectives on family and parenting.

Krasinski shares wonderful chemistry with Rudolph while director Sam Mendes creates an intimate and grounded story…

Burt is a charming and comedic role for Krasinski, which he plays so well, but it is also something very different from Jim Halpert. Instead of being the sarcastic “cool guy,” Burt is a much goofier man who is also filled with worry about being a father. Krasinski shares wonderful chemistry with Rudolph while director Sam Mendes creates an intimate and grounded story very different from the movies he is typically known for.

Along with his acting talents, John Krasinski has also shown off his skills behind the scenes, including collaborating with his good friend Matt Damon on the script for Promise Land. The co-writers also share the screen in this drama, which stars Damon as Steve Butler, a worker for an oil company who excels at convincing people to sell their lands to the company to be used for fracking. However, arriving in a small town with his partner (Frances McDormand), Steve finds his work cut out for him, especially when an environmental advocate (Krasinski) arrives.

Krasinski is great as Dustin Noble, the foil to Damon’s complicated protagonist. Krasinski’s charm and likable demeanor make him a formidable adversary for Steve, but Dustin also has more layers than simply being the antagonist. The movie is a simple yet effective drama about a controversial issue that still manages to be entertaining thanks to its talented cast.

John Krasinski briefly stepped into the MCU in a fun but controversial bit of casting. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was the second Doctor Strange movie which saw the famed sorcerer jumping across the multiverse in an attempt to save America Chavez from his former Avengers colleague Wanda Maximoff. With Wanda seeking a way to reunite with her lost children, she is sent down a villainous path with only Strange standing in her way.

Krasinski was a fan-favorite bit of casting in this role for many years and it is a lot of fun to see Marvel lean into that fan service while also subverting expectations.

As Strange finds himself in another reality, he faces the iconic Marvel team The Illuminati, with some fun cameos, including Krasinski as Reed Richards. Krasinski was a fan-favorite bit of casting in this role for many years and it is a lot of fun to see Marvel lean into that fan service while also subverting expectations. There are some who were disappointed with how Krasinski’s role ended and with him not returning in the upcoming The Fantastic Four: First Steps, but the cameo fit well into Sam Raimi’s wild and chaotic vision of this sequel.

There are many who would have been surprised to see John Krasinski in a Michael Bay movie years ago, but he proved he has action-hero potential within him. 13 Hours tells the true story of the harrowing and tragic incidents of September 2011 when an American diplomatic compound in Libya was attacked in a wave of assaults. The movie focuses on six members of the Annex Security Team who fought to defend the compound from the overwhelming enemy numbers.

Krasinski leads the film as Jack Silva, a former Navy SEAL and newest member of the security team. While 13 Hours was not a big hit, the movie was a success for Krasinski as it showed a completely new side of him as an actor. He dropped his comedic nice guy persona to play a real grounded and gritty hero role, with impressive physicality. The movie is a solid action project from Bay as it was more reserved than his other films, yet still an exciting ride.

13 Hours seems to have directly led into what could be considered John Krasinski’s comeback role. While the actor had continued working steadily following the end of The Office, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan was the movie that proved he could move on from the role of Jim Halpert and be seen in a new way by audiences. The series is based on the character Jack Ryan from several of Clancy’s novels, a smart and heroic CIA analyst who finds himself wrapped up in various incidents and missions of international importance.

The series is a thrilling globe-trotting adventure with each season tackling a new big-scale threat that Ryan fights against the clock to resolve.

Krasinski is the latest actor to play Jack Ryan, following in the footsteps of the likes of Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck. However, he manages to make it his own with a grounded performance that shows Ryan as an intellectual hero who is also winning to get his hands dirty. John Krasinski had stepped behind the camera as a director previously with mixed results, but A Quiet Place proved he was a skilled filmmaker, delivering one of the most intense horror movies of the 2010s. A Quiet Place is set in the aftermath of an alien invasion where monsters hunt the remains of humanity based only on sound. The movie focuses on one family dealing with the loss and challenges of this new life while also living in constant fear of the monsters hunting them.

Serving as John Krasinski’s big break, The Office remains one of the best shows of all time and a hard project for the actor to top. An adaptation of the British sitcom by Ricky Gervais, The Office takes a look at the work and off-work lives of the employees of a paper company in Scranton. At the center of it all is the branch’s oblivious and annoying boss, Michael Scott (Steve Carell), but the show also focuses on the office romance between Jim (Krasinski) and Pam (Jenna Fischer).

It is not hard to see why Krasinski was one of the breakout stars of the series, as he helps to make Jim a lovable, sweet, and hilarious character in the series. Of course, he is part of the larger cast of The Office, which is really what made the show so memorable and one of the most rewatchable series on television. It was a brilliant way of taking the most mundane setting and premise and turning into into must-see television.
