Is Cid Highwind playable?
Unfortunately, Cid Highwind is not playable in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. He’s still part of the gang and helps out in different ways, but you can’t directly control him like you can other characters. We hope that changes with the next game, but for now, we’ll have to wait.

Cid is a cool character in Final Fantasy. He appears in different forms throughout the series, such as a pilot or a leader. Although he is not officially called a dragon rider, in the original Final Fantasy 7, he can do some dragon rider-like moves with his spear attacks and jumping abilities.

In Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the story continues after the events of Final Fantasy VII Remake. The game takes place on a world called “Planet” and focuses on the protagonists’ journey to fight against the oppressive Shinra Electric Power Company. Shinra is a giant corporation that is draining the planet’s life force, the Lifestream, to gain power and control.
The main goal of the heroes is to stop Shinra and defeat Sephiroth, a powerful soldier who wants to harm Earth and become a god by merging with the Lifestream. The story begins with leaving the Shinra-controlled megacity of Midgar and continues until reaching the Forgotten Capital. However, the order of events differs from the original game, and some locations are explored later.
Leading the team is Claude Strife, a former Shinra soldier turned mercenary who joins the environmental activist group AVALANCHE. Joining him is Barret Wallace, the daring leader of AVALANCHE, and Tifa Lockhart, Claude’s childhood friend and Midgar bartender. Joining them is Alice Gainsborough, the last member of the ancient Cetra, the intelligent creature Red XIII, and the skilled ninja Yuffie Kisaragi.
Throughout their journey, they encounter various challenges and enemies, including Alice’s former partner Zack Fair, Texan Vincent Valentine, who was once experimented on by Shinra, and robot cat Cait Siss, who is controlled by Shinra’s Reeves Tuesti. Determined pilot and former Shinra scientist Sid Highwind also plays a key role.
As they progress, the group learns more about themselves and the world around them, facing internal and external conflicts. Along the way, they meet other characters such as Bugenhagen, Biggs seeking revenge against Shinra, and Elena, a new recruit for the Turks. Overall, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth tells an epic story of friendship, sacrifice, and resistance to oppression, set in a beautifully crafted world filled with rich characters and charming adventures.
