How to move and destroy buildings in Nightingale
In Nightingale, once you’ve completed character creation and the tutorial, you’ll be able to build your estate in the Abeyance Realm. While placing structures is important, you also need to know how to remove or reposition them. Here’s a simple guide on how to toggle build mode and manage your structures effectively:
Toggle build mode:
- Once you’ve completed the tutorial, press X to enter Build Mode. This mode allows you to easily copy, move, or delete buildings without having to manually destroy them with tools. A new quick bar will appear at the bottom of the screen, displaying various options and the building limits for your estate.
Remove the structure:
- To delete a structure, enter build mode and approach the object you want to remove. Press the V key, and hold it until the trash can icon fills up. This gives you a chance to reconsider before permanently destroying a structure. Destroyed structures will discard the resources used to build them.
Mobile Structure:
- If you want to reposition a structure, toggle Build Mode and walk over to the desired object. Press the R key to highlight the structure in yellow. Use the mouse menu to rotate the object, adjust its height, or move it entirely to a new location by left-clicking. Moving a structure does not consume any resources and occurs instantly.

Nightingale Gameplay
In Nightingale, players control an interdimensional traveler who escapes to a procedurally generated world after a disaster on Earth. Set in a Victorian gaslit fantasy world with a steampunk aesthetic, players must survive by finding food, resting to recover, and crafting tools. They can craft items such as sheets for resting and umbrellas for gliding. Some creatures are not hostile unless provoked, and combat requires the use of melee weapons or firearms.
Players can recruit NPCs to assist in combat and resource gathering, and encounter literary characters like Victor Frankenstein and Mr. Hyde who offer quests. Realms are hosted on dedicated servers and can have different biomes, such as deserts and woodlands, customized by players using cards. The game supports single-player and cooperative multiplayer for up to six players, and offers both first-person and third-person perspective options.
