How is Threads different from Instagram?
So far, Threads has followed a familiar path. However, there is an important plan in the thread’s work. Although this is not currently the case, the goal is to make Threads compatible with ActivityPub. This special protocol enables a decentralized social network by facilitating the interconnection of social network applications using the same protocol. The ultimate goal is to enable Threads users to interact with accounts on various social media platforms.
For example, imagine someone on Mastodon wants to follow your Threads account. With this integration, you will be able to approve or deny the request directly within Threads. You can then follow their Mastodon posts in your thread feed without creating a Mastodon account. Even though this feature isn’t available yet, it will be interesting to see its development.
Threads already offers several features native to Instagram designed to help you manage the content you like to see. You control who can reply to you or mention you in posts. Additionally, you can apply word filters so that any posts containing specific words don’t appear in your feed or replies.
