How to block attacks in Tekken 8
Basic defense:
- Move Backward: Hold down the left button or move the analog stick left (for left players) to block most high school attacks. For players on the right, move to the right.
Defense against low attacks:
- Crouch and Back Up: To defend against a low attack, drop down and back up. Controller players should move the analog stick to southwest (or southeast, depending on their side).
Low attack considerations:
- Vulnerability: Please note that moving backward alone does not protect against low-level attacks, a combination of moving downward and moving backward is required for effective defense.
Adapt to your screen:
- Screen Orientation: Adjust your movements based on the side of the screen. For players on the left, move the defense to the left; for players on the right, move to the right.
Risks and play style:
- Defensive Strategy: Tekken 8 involves a balance between defense and offense. Continuous defensive moves may catch your opponent off guard, but be wary of catch-and-throw moves.
Timing is crucial:
- Early Block: If hit while blocking, block the attack slightly earlier than normal. Timing is crucial to avoiding injury in sports.

Tekken 8 gameplay
As director Katsuhiro Harada shared, Tekken 8 promises an exciting gameplay experience that focuses on offense and rewards proactive players over defensive ones. The introduction of the “heat” system adds a new layer to combat, providing chip damage, additional movesets, and altered attributes for certain characters. This system comes with a timer and can be used strategically during combat. It is worth noting that “Tekken 8” returns to the rage system, but with some changes, such as separating the rage drive into “Heat Crush”, which is a super move under the “Heat” system.

The game features an improved juggling combo expansion system called “Tornado” instead of the planned return of the “Screw” attribute. Tekken 8 takes the theme of the movie and introduces stage destruction and realistic character reactions. It’s powered by Unreal Engine 5 and features new character models and voices. The online mode includes the “Arcade Quest” battle lobby, covering a variety of combat environments and allowing avatars to be customized using the “Fight Money” currency.
