How long is Persona 5 Tactics?
Persona 5 Strikers is an action role-playing game that involves extensive storyline, exploration, combat, and character development, which makes the game long at approximately 40 hours. Players engage in real-time combat, explore locations, solve mysteries, and build relationships with characters throughout the game, resulting in a long and immersive gaming experience.
Persona 5: Dancing in the Stars, on the other hand, is a rhythm-based game that focuses primarily on dancing to catchy musical tracks from the Persona 5 universe. It offers a simpler style of play centered around rhythm and coordination, resulting in a faster completion time of around seven hours. The game’s main focus is on enjoying the music, mastering dance moves, and completing game levels, providing a shorter but enjoyable gameplay experience compared to the depth and complexity of Persona 5 Strikers.

Persona 5 Tactics
“Persona 5 Tactica” is a strategy game produced by P-Studio and published by Sega. It is part of the Persona series, which is an important part of the Megami Tensei series. The game launches on November 17, 2023 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
In Persona 5 Tactica, the story takes place simultaneously with Persona 5 (2016). It tells the story of the Phantom Thieves of Heart who find themselves in an alternate world full of war and oppression. They team up with a group called the Rebel Legion to fight against the Legionnaires responsible. Gameplay involves strategy RPG elements such as grid-based movement, weapon systems, and turn-based combat. It also includes familiar Persona series features like summoning and fusing Personas, as well as elemental strengths and weaknesses.

Atlus decided to make Persona 5 Tactica because they wanted to explore the strategy RPG genre from the Persona series. They drew on experiences from similar games and found connections between the genre and the world of Persona 5.

Persona 5 Tactics Guide
In Persona 5 Tactica, you cannot enter the Velvet Room from the beginning of the game. You need to play and get to the point where you have to rescue Ann and Futaba to unlock it.
The story takes place in another virtual universe in Toshiro’s mind. Lavenza, the character in the game, must build a fusion device from scratch. This means you can only access the fused and distinct characters after rescuing Ann and Futaba from Marie’s mind control.
In the new velvet room you can:
-
Normal Fusion: Combine two characters to create a third character. You can choose one skill from each of the two characters to transfer.
-
Special Fusion: Unlocked when you reach Kingdom 2. Here you can access characters with powerful unique abilities. To obtain them, you need to fuse three or more other characters, and obtaining them can be challenging due to the specific recipes.
-
Forging New Weapons: Later in the game, you can forge weapons by fusing two characters. These weapons are more powerful than store-bought weapons, have higher damage stats, and are capable of inflicting status effects such as scanning, burning, freezing, and more.
-
Disassemble Weapons: The Velvet Room also allows you to disassemble ranged weapons. This is a great way to make money in the game. Whether purchased or forged, you can disassemble a weapon and earn some money.

Persona 5 Tactica is a video game in which you control a group of characters in strategic battles on a grid-based map. You face off against enemy units in turn-based encounters. Your team includes members of the Phantom Thieves of Hearts and Erina, the leader of the Rebel Legion. During combat, characters can seek cover to reduce or prevent damage. You can also use close range attacks or choose actions from the menu, including using ranged weapons or summoning powerful entities called characters.
The game incorporates elemental affinities, which affect how enemies react to different attacks. If you knock down an enemy without cover, you’ll get an extra turn to choose your next move. Forming a triangle arrangement on the grid with allies unleashes a powerful skill called “Triple Threat,” similar to “All-Out Attack” in Persona 5.
You can collect more characters throughout the game and equip them as sub-characters for additional abilities. These can be obtained as rewards in battle or by combining different characters. The story unfolds through battles in maps inspired by the historical revolutions of three different kingdoms.
Persona 5 Tactics Review
Persona 5 Tactica is a spin-off game that doesn’t quite match the epic feel of Persona 5 Royal to me, but it’s still fun to reconnect with favorite characters. The game’s grid-based combat system, while not as impactful as the original JRPG, showcases Atlus’ expertise in creating strategic combat.
Tactica is set between the second and third terms of Persona 5 Royal and assumes players are familiar with the story, making it less suitable for newcomers. The art style, which features partially chibi characters, takes some getting used to, but Persona 5’s aesthetic still shines through. The menu screens and imaginative kingdoms maintain the series’ unique style, even if some locations (like LeBron) look a little different. Overall, while Tactica isn’t a replacement for the main game, it offers a chance to return to the Persona universe.
