Helldivers 2 Plus will be free at launch
Developed by Arrowhead Game Studios, Helldivers 2 is set to release on February 8 and is currently available to pre-load on PS5 and PC. While an extensive campaign is promised at launch, the developers plan to introduce additional biomes, enemies, and objectives, all of which will be available as free updates. A PlayStation Blog post has been confirmed to contain a free post-launch story update.
These updates will be closely tied to Galactic War, allowing players to “witness the events unfold through our planned free updates.” The in-game universe is designed to dynamically “grow and change,” presenting players with “refreshed gameplay” that incorporates “new tools, new challenges, and new threats from across the galaxy.” This requires the introduction of new items and unlocking them through the War Bonds system.

Galactic Warfare introduces an innovative evolution of Helldiver’s Galactic Campaign, allowing players to participate in major orders for public story progression or individual orders to earn rewards. Opponents, finishers, and automatons remain dynamic and adapt to player strategies. If delayed, players may encounter entirely new missions.

“Helldivers 2” (Helldivers 2), referred to as “Helldivers II”, is an action game recently developed by Arrowhead Game Studios and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. As the sequel to the 2015 game Hellraiser, Hellraiser 2 uses a top-down perspective and is scheduled to be released on February 8, 2024, and will be playable on PlayStation 5 and Windows.
The game introduces two opposing factions – the cyborgs and the insect-like Terminals – wreaking havoc on Super Earth. The conflict marks the most significant challenge since the collective effort began more than a century ago. Each enemy group’s actions are unique and require different plans and strategies to counter their threats.
Given the enemy’s ever-expanding control of the planet, taking on the role of a Hellstalker is no small feat. Missions currently underway are to contribute to the war effort, recapture planets for super-Earths and establish freedom in remote areas of the galaxy.
Players must not only face powerful enemies, but also deal with the challenging environmental conditions of the alien world, using the war table to choose actions on the selected planet. Operations consist of up to three missions, each with a specific objective, such as eliminating a bug infection, sabotaging enemy supplies, or obtaining valuable data.

Throughout the mission, different tasks will unfold, including targeting important enemies and launching missiles at enemy bases. It is vital to remain vigilant about resources and information, as researchers who bring them back to Super-Earth contribute to the overall progress of the war effort and are one step closer to liberating this part of the galaxy.

Hellraiser 2 gameplay
“Helldivers 2” differs from its predecessor, which adopted a top-down perspective and a third-person perspective similar to the movies. Similar to the original game, players in Helldivers 2 can choose strategies – special items that are airdropped during the game. These items include cluster bombs, sentry guns, shield generators and supply pods containing limited-use special weapons. Caution is necessary as it is possible to inadvertently harm teammates. The game’s armor system replicates the effects of real-world weapons on armored targets.
In Helldivers 2, cooperative play has been enhanced with up to three additional players. Collaborative exploration of different planets and teamwork on objectives form key aspects of gameplay. Progression in the game introduces an upgrade system that allows players to enhance and modify their equipment, thereby enhancing and improving their character throughout the gaming experience.
Development and release of Helldiver 2
Arrowhead Game Studios revealed a new PlayStation 5 game they are developing on December 3, 2020, describing it as a third-person shooter where players can view their character from behind. Helldivers 2 was then hinted at by a leak on GeForce Now on September 13, 2021, prompted by a TikTok video shot by members of the Arrowhead Game Studios team during the workday. The video teased part of the gameplay trailer, but was quickly removed.
The official announcement for Hellraiser 2 was made on May 24, 2023, during the 2023 PlayStation Showcase, with a release scheduled for the same year. The gameplay video was released on July 6, 2023 and provides an in-depth look at the game. Speculations on July 30, 2023 suggested an October 2023 release. The same day, the ESRB gave the game an M rating for “blood and gore” and “intense violence.”
On September 14, 2023, further gameplay was revealed during a PlayStation event called State of Play. During this event, the official release date of the game was confirmed as February 8, 2024, and pre-orders began on September 22, 2023.
