Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth gameplay
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is the second game in the series that is a planned remake of the 1997 PlayStation original Final Fantasy VII. It takes place after the events of Final Fantasy VII Remake (2020), when the team escaped the city of Midgar. The player primarily controls Cloud Strife, a former Shinra soldier who joins Avalanche to stop Shinra from draining the planet’s life force and confront the legendary soldier Sephiroth.
The game features real-time exploration and combat, with an open world compared to Remake’s linear Midgar. Players can track main story quests and side quests via objective markers on the heads-up display. They can also ride chocobos and use specialized chocobo bait materials for faster travel. Rebirth expands on Remake’s hybrid combat system, allowing players to freely switch teammates during combat. Characters strategically use physical attacks, magic, and items in combat.
The “synergy” mechanic introduced in Final Fantasy VII Remake’s “Episode INTERmission” DLC returns, allowing party members to synchronize their attacks, but at the cost of a slower ATB bar fill. Final Fantasy VII Remake combines expanded character development and narrative structure with engaging exploration and combat mechanics, bringing players a new experience in the beloved Final Fantasy world.
