From there, his career has gone from strength to strength, with Walker Scobell’s name already becoming well known despite only appearing in two movies and a single TV show so far.

Secret Headquarters was the second movie in which Walker Scobell appeared, and released in 2022 shortly after his debut outing in The Adam Project. From directors Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, Secret Headquarters is a superhero comedy in which Walker Scobell appears as Charlie Kincaid, the son of superhero The Guard (played by Owen Williams). Scobell and Williams make a great father-son duo on screen, with many hilarious moments coupled with some surprisingly emotional ones that deal with Charlie’s strained relationship with his often-absent superhero father.

The plot of the movie echoes the likes of Spy Kids in many ways and Superhero High in many ways, as by the end, it’s Charlie who has to save the day using the skills and gadgets he’s inherited from his dad. While the movie didn’t fare too well with critics, Secret Headquarters is still an enjoyable watch for younger viewers. It was also a strong second outing as far as Walker Scobell’s performance goes, though it’s not the best movie or TV show he’s appeared in so far in his short career so far.

Walker Scobell’s first appearance in a feature-length movie was 2022’s The Adam Project, which saw the young star join a cast alongside the likes of Ryan Reynolds, Mark Ruffalo, Zoe Saldana, and Jennifer Garner. The 2022 sci-fi action comedy from director Shawn Levy sees pilot Adam Reed (Reynolds) traveling back in time to save his wife. However, instead of traveling from 2050 to 2018, he instead mistakenly arrives in 2022, and has to work with his 12-year-old self in the past (Scobell) to complete his mission.
Ryan Reynolds and Walker Scobell have great chemistry together as the older and younger versions of Adam. It was a truly phenomenal debut for Scobell too, with many critics noting the strength of his performance given how little experience on screen he had prior to taking on the role. Reynolds and Scobell were jointly nominated for an MTV Movie Award for Best Team, and it’s little surprise that The Adam Project helped launch Walker Scobell’s career into a direct path from a feature film debut straight to being cast as the lead in a high-budget TV series.

So far, the best and most prominent role in Walker Scobell’s career is portraying the titular role in the Disney+ series Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Following Disney’s earlier attempt to create a cinematic franchise from Rick Riodran’s Percy Jackson novels, Percy Jackson and the Olympians has been a much more successful venture than the 2010 movie The Lightning Thief and the 2013 sequel Sea of Monsters. While this success is also attributed to the lengthier runtime afforded by the format of a TV series and greater accuracy to the books, Scobell’s performance in the lead role has also been a key factor.
In Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Walker Scobell plays Percy Jackson, the demigod son of Poseidon. The cast of the Disney+ show has been consistently praised by critics, with many citing the performance of Walker Scobell specifically as being incredibly strong. The show also landed Scobell the first award win of his career, landing a Kids’ Choice Award for Favorite Male TV Star (Kids). Season 2 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians has also been confirmed, so fans will have more of Walker Scobell’s performance as Percy Jackson to enjoy in the near future.
What Walker Scobell Will Appear In Next
Alongside season 2 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Walker Scobell has other projects in the works too, showing that the young star still has a long and successful road ahead of him. Scobell’s next confirmed movie appearance is in Blood Knot, the adaptation of Bob Rich’s 2015 novel Looking Through Water from director Roberto Sneider.
Blood Knot will be a new venture for Walker Scobell in more ways than one. Rather than being an action comedy or fantasy adventure aimed at younger viewers, Blood Knot is a down-to-earth drama. It will be interesting to see how Scobell handles the role, but if his performances in his films and movies so far are any indication, he’ll once again prove himself as a solid young performer. The specific role he’s playing has yet to be revealed, and the film also doesn’t have a release date yet (though it is in post-production at time of writing).
Additionally, Walker Scobell was set to have a cameo in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine. While his scene didn’t make it into the final cut, Scobell revealed that he’d been set to voice a Deadpool variant known as Kidpool. However, the actor explained during an interview that filming commitments for Percy Jackson and the Olympians ultimately prevented the cameo from happening – though he’s still more than open to appearing in a future MCU project.
