Every Tom Blyth Movie And TV Show, Ranked

Tom Blyth is still relatively early in his career, but already has some impressive movies and shows in his filmography. Getting his start with small roles in Robin Hood and Pelican Blood in 2010, Tom Blyth has steadily made a name for himself, appearing in a number of films and shows including Billy the Kid, The Guilded Age, and Benediction. His biggest role, which is also one of his most recent, was playing Coriolanus Snow in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, the newest entry in the popular YA franchise.

Since his turn as Snow, Tom Blyth has become a rising star, and already has a handful of new projects in various stages of development. These include an adaptation of Ernest Hemingway’s A Farewell to Arms, Discussion Materials, the indie film Plainclothes, the Netflix film People We Meet on Vacation, an adaptation of the novel of the same name. It feels like Hollywood will be getting a lot of Tom Blyth in the coming years.

Long before he had his big breakout role, Tom Blyth played a small part in the 2010 film, Robin Hood. Starring Russell Crowe as the titular character, Robin Hood was another take on the iconic character. Directed by Ridley Scott, the film was just fine, nothing spectacular, but features some great performances, particularly from Crowe, who has a great history of working with Ridley Scott on their epic, Gladiator.

Robin Hood was the fourth collaboration between Ridley Scott and Russel Crowe.

Given that Robin Hood was actually Tom Blyth’s first role, he doesn’t have much to do, playing a feral child who encounters Crowe’s Robin Hood alongside a bigger group of feral kids. Blyth doesn’t do much besides stand in the background for the most part, but it is cool that he was able to get a part in a film that starred both Russel Crowe and Cate Blanchett.

Tom Blythe actually had two films come out during the first year of his career, with the low-budget indie film, Pelican Blood coming out several months after Robin Hood. Based on the novel of the same name, Pelican Blood tells the story of a young man named Nikko, who meets a girl named Stevie through a suicide website. Though it is extremely low budget, the film is a solid drama, chronicling the lives of angsty young adults trying to make sense of the world.

Like Robin Hood, Tom Blyth doesn’t have much to do in Pelican Blood, briefly playing a younger version of Nikko. After 2010, Tom Blyth wouldn’t star in another feature-length film until 2018. Still, appearances in Pelican Blood and Robin Hood show that he was trying to find his place within the industry.

Benediction is a biographical romantic drama, telling the story of war poet Siegfried Sassoon, who was a decorated World War I veteran and British poet who was eventually sent to a psychiatric facility for his anti-war stance. The film also revolves around the affairs he had with several men in the 1920s before getting married, having children and converting to Catholicism. It’s a fantastic movie that gently tells the incredible story of Sassoon.

It’s harder to place Benediction higher among his best work, given that Tom Blyth doesn’t have that significant of a role in the film. He plays Glen Byam Shaw, a former lover of Novello and one of Sassoon’s later partners. Still, Blyth is always good with whatever material he is given, and although he doesn’t have a ton to do in the film, he still nails the few scenes he has, showing his immense talent as an actor.

Tom Blyth is tasked with portraying the real-life Billy the Kid, who has been featured in countless movies and shows over the years. While the show overall is pretty good, Blyth is fantastic as the character, showing hints of what he would bring to his performance in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Though Billy the Kid is an outlaw, Blyth brings a complexity to a character who is driven by grief and injustice.

Premiering in 2022 on HBO, The Gilded Age is set in the 1880s New York, concerned with the Russell family who come from new money, compared to the old money family, van Rhijn-Brook. What makes The Gilded Age so good is the attention to detail with the setting, as it feels authentic to what the show is about. On top of that, the performances are strong across the board, earning its place in HBO’s legendary catalog.

The Gilded Age season 3 is set to premiere sometime in Fall 2025.

Tom Blyth wasn’t a consistent feature of The Gilded Age. In fact, he only appears in one episode during the entire series. Blyth plays Archie Baldwin in season 1, episode 5, “Charity Has Two Functions.” playing Gladys Russell’s suitor. Archie Baldwin is given an ultimatum by George Russell to either never work in finance again and be with Gladys, or accept a lucrative job and never speak to her again. Blyth is fantastic in the role, with his final decision to leave Gladys being a particularly tough moment in the episode.

Eight years after appearing in two feature-length films, Tom Blyth finally got a starring role in the coming of age film, Scott and Sid. Initially released in the U.K. in 2018, Scott and Sid was a well-received film telling the story of two friends who make an attempt to fulfill a list of ambitions by the time they turn 15. The movie was based on the actual lives of the two directors, digging deep into who they are as people, in a satisfying young adult narrative.

He feels like a real person and a significant part of that is because of Tom Blyth, showing he has what it takes to be a lead in more projects.

Tom Blyth’s performance as Sid in the film is remarkable, having fantastic chemistry with Richard Mason, also in his first starring role as Scott. Sid is a complex character and Blyth is able to draw a lot of nuance out of him, as he is charming and ambitious. He feels like a real person and a significant part of that is because of Tom Blyth, showing he has what it takes to be a lead in more projects.

The Hunger Games was one of the most popular movie franchises of the early to mid-2010s, and after the final film was released, it was unclear if there was ever going to be another entry in the series. Thankfully, author Suzanne Collins wrote another novel, which The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes is an adaptation of. This entry tells the story of Coriolanus Snow’s younger years, the main villain of the series, returning to the world of children being selected to fight to the death for the amusement of the Capitol.

Tom Blyth is remarkable as Snow, showing a significant amount of range, where Snow can come across as charming and warm, before being cold and calculating. It’s Tom Blyth’s best performance of his career so far, and is also his first true breakout film, helping to successfully revitalize a franchise that hadn’t had a movie in nearly a decade. His chemistry with Rachel Zegler’s Lucy is the beating heart of the film, nailing every scene they have together.
