Every Rogue One Character Who Could Appear In Andor Season 2, Ranked By The Chance They’ll Turn Up

With the story of Andor season 2 leading directly into the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, it’s expected that several of the movie’s characters could make an appearance – some of which are already confirmed. Andor is essentially a prequel to Rogue One, seeing as it follows its titular character, Cassian Andor, through the formation of the Rebel Alliance as we see it in Rogue One and the original Star Wars trilogy.

Several of Rogue One‘s cast and characters have already made appearances and even have leading roles, such as Genevieve O’Reilly’s Mon Mothma and Forest Whitaker’s Saw Gerrera. Those two characters, however, have origins in other Star Wars media, Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: The Clone Wars, respectively. The following list is composed of characters who were created specifically for Rogue One, arranged in order from least to most likely to make an appearance in Andor season 2.

Lyra Erso

Played By Valene Kane

Close

The Ersos are a crucial piece of the puzzle in Rogue One‘s story, and Lyra is the glue that held them together prior to her tragic death at the beginning of the movie. Lyra was heavily featured in Rogue One‘s prequel novel, Catalyst by James Luceno, which informed audiences of just how strong and pivotal her character really was. It was she who showed her husband, Galen Erso, the Empire’s true evil, and urged them to make an escape.

Purchase Catalyst by James Luceno on Amazon

Lyra, however, is unlikely to make an appearance during the events of Andor, mostly because she’s already dead at this point in the Star Wars timeline. The only small possibility of her turning up would be either a flashback to Galen’s first stint with the Empire or some type of hologram. Even then, the chances are slim; Andor doesn’t do cameos without good reason as it is, and the show has so far only used flashbacks from Cassian’s past to inform the present storyline.

11

Jyn Erso

Played By Felicity Jones

Close

This may come as a shock to some, but I’m not anticipating an appearance by Rogue One‘s main hero in Andor season 2. Jyn was the most pivotal character in Rogue One, acting as the catalyst for Cassian and more of the Rebel Alliance’s forces to join her in their mission to Scarif. Her journey in Rogue One is one of the best ever shown in Star Wars, because, prior to that story, she wanted no involvement in the organized Rebellion whatsoever.

Andor season 2 returns with an extensive cast, including some familiar faces from the show’s past, some big Star Wars returns, and new characters.

That lack of involvement, however, is what makes it unlikely that she will appear in Andor season 2, especially considering how contained its story is. If Jyn were to be included somehow, it likely wouldn’t be anything beyond her face in a hologram prior to K-2SO, Ruescott Melshi, and other Rebellion forces breaking her out of the Imperial labor camp on Wobani. I would love to be wrong, but it does unfortunately seem difficult to bring Jyn back in this particular project.

10

Chirrut Îmwe

Played By Donnie Yen

Close

Chirrut Îmwe is one of the core characters in Rogue One, and his character has long since been beloved, especially given his connection to Baze Malbus. As a member of the Guardian of the Whills, Chirrut’s story is connected to some serious deep-lore Star Wars, dating back to George Lucas’ original ideas for the very first movie and its greater universe. He’s the strongest connection the audience has to the Force in the absence of Jedi and other Force-sensitive characters.

I think there’s a fair chance of Chirrut showing up in Andor season 2, if only because Saw’s own group will have established their base on Jedha at some point during the show’s events, which is where Chirrut is when we first meet him in Rogue One. Cassian also demonstrated a familiarity with Jedha prior to his journey there with Jyn in Rogue One, which means he could somehow cross paths with Chirrut on that world. I’m not entirely convinced, but I do think it’s a possibility.

9

Baze Malbus

Played By Wen Jiang

Close

Baze Malbus is essentially a dedicated partner to Chirrut, sticking by the Guardian of the Whills’ side to protect him and, by extension, the cause he stands for. Baze has an arc of his own through his relationship with Chirrut, as the latter dies in his arms and urges Baze to finally repeat Chirrut’s own chant: “I am one with the Force, and the Force is with me.” He dies with the hope that he and Chirrut will be reunited in the afterlife, giving his life to the same noble cause to free the galaxy from the Empire’s tyranny.

Seeing as Baze follows wherever Chirrut goes, I think the chance of him turning up in Andor season 2 is the same as Chirrut’s own. As childhood best friends, it would be unlikely to ever see them apart from one another. There could be some potential to see what Baze does as a part of his assassin work after leaving the Guardians of the Whills, though again, I doubt it would be shown unless it somehow directly factored into the juggernaut story Andor season 2 has to tell.

8

Bodhi Rook

Played By Riz Ahmed

Close

Bodhi Rook is the Imperial pilot who Galen Erso trusts to deliver his message about the Death Star to Saw Gerrera, and in Rogue One, he learns how to become brave enough to take each step in assisting the Rebel cause, especially after having to serve the Empire for so long. Bodhi is something of an underrated gem amongst the Rogue One crew, despite how pivotal his story truly is. Without him, Galen’s message would have never been seen by the right people.

Because of how important Bodhi is to the story of Rogue One and, as a whole, the story of the Death Star plans being uncovered, I think there’s a high chance that the Imperial pilot could show up at some point, particularly in relation to Galen Erso. We could even get to see why it was Bodhi specifically who Galen chose for this mission. Given that the first thing we see of Bodhi is him delivering the message to Saw, we could even see Galen send him off.

7

General Davits Draven

Played By Alistair Petrie

Close

General Davits Draven is one of the key Rebel Alliance members we follow in Rogue One, as he works directly with Mon Mothma and is presumably Cassian’s commanding officer, as he’s often the one giving the captain direct orders throughout Rogue One. Draven doesn’t always make the right calls, especially not in the case of ordering members of the Rebel fleet to move in on Eadu in an attack that ultimately kills Galen Erso, but he clearly earned both his own rank and Cassian’s trust at some point.

Because Cassian and Draven had to form some kind of relationship to make this trust evident, I think it’s quite likely Draven will appear at some point during Andor season 2, especially as Yavin 4 becomes more of a home base to the characters. As a veteran of the Clone Wars, Draven’s story would be absolutely fascinating to explore, especially as he commands the Rebel Alliance’s intelligence branch. It almost seems more unlikely that he wouldn’t appear in some capacity.

6

Galen Erso

Played By Mads Mikkelsen

Close

I think that if any Erso is going to appear in Andor season 2, it’s Galen. The scientist is the reluctant mastermind behind the Death Star’s lethal laser, and without him, word of the Death Star’s failsafe – or its existence to begin with – wouldn’t exist. As someone who was forced to continue his work for the Empire against his will, he has one of Rogue One‘s most fascinating stories, and certainly plenty of potential for more tie-in storylines throughout the course of Andor season 2.

Mads Mikkelsen, interestingly enough, is a confirmed celebrity guest for this year’s Star Wars Celebration, which takes place just before the release of Andor season 2 – which seems to further point towards the possibility of him appearing this season.

While having to maintain the illusion of loyalty to the Empire, Galen is indeed a rebel, which makes his story an important part of the Rebellion’s – and thus Andor‘s. Plus, with Andor season 2 set to end with Cassian preparing to make the trip to the Ring of Kafrene, where we meet him in Rogue One, it’s very likely that we could see his research on Galen Erso begin well before then. He certainly knew a lot about the scientist prior to that meeting. For that reason and more, I’m almost entirely convinced Galen will turn up.

5

Benthic & Edrio “Two Tubes”

Played By Aidan Cook

Close

Benthic and Edrio, also known as “Two Tubes,” are essential members of Saw Gerrera’s Partisans, particularly Benthic. He became a fan-favorite after Rogue One, which helped to pave the way for the character appearing once again in Andor season 1. Benthic and Edrio still act as trusted members of Saw Gerrera’s Partisans during their brief season 1 appearance, to the point where Benthic even watches Luthen Rael very closely during the other Rebel leader’s visit to the Partisan base.

Because Benthic and Edrio turned up in Andor season 1, it’s guaranteed they’ll appear again in season 2, especially wherever Saw’s storyline goes. As to the extent of their roles, I’m uncertain, though I do think they could be just a bit bigger than they were in season 1. It depends on how much Andor season 2 endeavors to focus on Saw, Jedha, and the Partisans as a whole. All I know is that wherever the Partisans are, Benthic and Edrio will be, too.

4

Ruescott Melshi

Played By Duncan Pow

Close

Ruescott Melshi has a wonderful Star Wars journey thanks to Andor, going from more of a background character in Rogue One to one of Andor‘s most important supporting characters. Melshi meets Cassian in the Imperial prison on Narkina 5, where they’re assigned to the same table to complete work on the Empire’s behalf. Melshi and Cassian grow close through this experience, especially as they ultimately make their escape off Narkina 5 together.

Melshi’s already been seen in new clips from Andor season 2, between its various teasers and trailers, which means he’s a shoo-in for various appearances throughout Andor season 2. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up having an even more elevated role than he did in season 1, working his way up through the ranks of the Rebel Alliance. As such a close friend to Cassian now, he’s sure to be a key part of the story.

3

K-2SO

Played By Alan Tudyk

Close

K-2SO is one of the most beloved Rogue One characters there is, for both his close partnership with Cassian and his hilarious, witty humor. Because Kaytoo is already Cassian’s right-hand in Rogue One, the origin story of Kaytoo’s reprogramming and their friendship has always been of high interest. As soon as Andor was announced, audiences figured we would finally be getting to see it, though season 1 wasn’t the right timing.

Now, Andor season 2 has finally presented the opportunity, and it’s already confirmed that Kaytoo will be joining Cassian in plenty of his adventures during the new season. Glimpses of Kaytoo, as well as Alan Tudyk acting as the droid on set, have already been seen, proving that he’ll have quite the role this season. There’s no doubt Kaytoo will be bringing some light to this darker and more mature TV show, providing a perfect Star Wars-esque balance.

2

Director Orson Krennic

Played By Ben Mendelsohn

Close

Another Rogue One character who’s confirmed to be appearing in Andor season 2 is none other than Director Orson Krennic, the Star Wars movie’s central villain. Along with K-2SO, Ben Mendelsohn’s role as Krennic was the most highly anticipated and expected prior to the formal announcement that he would be a part of Andor season 2’s cast. Krennic was the one who oversaw most of the Death Star’s construction, competing with Grand Moff Tarkin for the credit quite often.

Krennic has been a part of various Andor teasers and trailers, and it seems that he may even turn up at the wedding of Mon Mothma’s daughter, given the characters he’s seen with in one of these clips. Krennic’s connection to the Death Star makes him an absolutely essential character in Andor season 2, and his vital role in this season is what amplifies my own hopes for Galen Erso to turn up as well. Either way, there’s no doubt Krennic will be a huge highlight in Andor season 2.

1

Cassian Andor

Played By Diego Luna

Close

Of course, there would be no Andor without Cassian Andor, one of the main characters created specifically for Rogue One. Cassian’s journey in season 1 saw him go from a simple thief to a dedicated rebel, and season 2 is expected to show how he continues to rise through the growing Rebel Alliance’s ranks to become one of their key intelligence members. Cassian is an expert at blending in, and he’s already been seen doing that quite a bit in early footage of Andor season 2.

Andor season 2 will be an excellent yet bittersweet watch, knowing what fate awaits Cassian at the end of it all, but witnessing this story is absolutely essential. It will no doubt completely recontextualize the way we see the Rebellion in all other Star Wars media, thanks to the journey we’ll take through Cassian’s eyes. Andor has made Cassian one of the most important Star Wars heroes in history, and his role in season 2 will only further elevate that sentiment.
