Euro Truck Simulator 2 Update 1.49 Patch Notes
Released by SCS developers on November 28, the Euro Truck Simulator 2 update 1.49 patch notes introduce a series of new features and improvements that enhance the existing gameplay experience in the game.
This update contains bug fixes, changes, and new content as shown below, so we recommend you read it!
HDR skybox, moon and new weather effects
- First and foremost, after many requests, we have (re)added the Moon to our night sky! It’s a subtle but remarkable touch that adds an extra layer of realism and wonder to your virtual cargo adventure. Oddly enough, it’s worth mentioning that a seemingly simple addition – the moon – has presented some significant challenges over time.
- Integrating the moon into the night sky requires projecting, rendering, and calculating moonlight, proper phasing, managing reflections in bodies of water, dealing with wet roads, and resolving specular effects, among other things.
- In addition to this, we have reimagined the night sky, introducing gently twinkling dynamic stars to enhance the overall authenticity of the nighttime experience.
- We’re also excited to share that Skybox will now feature High Dynamic Range (HDR), which means colors in the sky will be richer and more vivid, and our weather visuals have also been upgraded. Thunderstorms now include visible lightning, providing a more immersive experience. And be sure to keep an eye on the night sky in certain areas, you might be surprised by what you notice.
used truck dealers
We’re also excited to introduce another highly anticipated feature. Used trucks will now appear instantly in the main menu, giving you a choice of trucks that are more affordable than brand new vehicles. However, these used trucks have some mileage and wear, which is indicated by their star rating and a separate window that provides a detailed breakdown of damage to individual components.
One of the most important changes brought by this feature is the enhanced damage and repair system. In the past, our approach was very simple – individual parts accumulated damage, expressed as a percentage, and you could repair them, resetting the percentage to zero. However, with the 1.49 update, parts will accumulate three types of damage
- Damage: This type of damage can be repaired with standard repairs as before.
- Parts wear: When components show significant wear, you need to replace them.
- Permanent Wear: Permanent wear represents system aging and wear and tear throughout the vehicle. It can only be eliminated with a complete restoration of the entire vehicle. This is a more expensive procedure, but it’s the only way to get your truck and trailer back to original condition.
Along with improvements to the damage system, control over vehicle maintenance has also been enhanced. You can now use your own judgment to make informed choices about which parts to repair or replace. Alternatively, you may choose to seek professional advice for the best repair strategy for your truck or trailer.
Happy (used) trucking!
key binding modifier
- Another highly anticipated feature in 1.49 is the introduction of keybinding modifiers! Previously when creating a new binding in the menu, you could only assign a key to the action. In update 1.49, you now have the option to bind actions using a combination of keystrokes and modifiers. For example, you can now specify Shift + L to turn on the lights if you wish!
- This opens up a whole new world of keybinding combinations for you, allowing for more binding options, but that’s not all! You now also have the option to bind short and long key presses. Holding down the button will be recognized as a long press, while pressing the button normally will be recognized as a short press.
- Keyboards aren’t the only peripherals taking advantage of this change. Controllers will also be able to use this new feature!
automatic headlight
- Another new feature we’re excited to introduce with this update is the automatic headlight option. It’s a relatively simple feature that turns on the headlights when the ambient light around the truck drops below a certain threshold.
- If you toggle this option, the light switch position for the parking lights will be replaced by the automatic lights, so you can still turn the lights off or force the headlights on in the other switch position.
We also added automatic high beams.
- This feature will temporarily disable your high beams when there is a vehicle ahead of you (either in your lane or oncoming) and turn them back on when the vehicle is far enough away.
- These automatic high beams are enabled if you flip the high beam switch and turn on the automatic headlights or turn on the headlights manually (if the automatic headlight option is off, the high beams only work when the headlights are manually enabled). We hope you enjoy this simple yet useful feature on the go!
