the pixar movie Elementary includes several Easter eggs and references to the animated studio’s past and future. Directed by Peter Sohn, Elementary It is Pixar’s 27th film. The story follows Ember and Wade, two Fire and Water people who form an unexpected relationship and work together to solve a problem in Element City. It had a mostly positive critical reception, as indicated ElementaryThe Rotten Tomatoes soundtrack, thanks to its charming, fun and romantic story. But there’s also a lot more going on in the background that viewers might miss.
Pixar has a great history of including several Easter eggs in its animated films, and Elementary is not an exception. The film focuses primarily on the story at hand with Wade and Ember, but there are plenty of references to past Pixar films included in the background for eagle-eyed viewers to pick up. by the time ElementaryAs the finale draws to a close, there are at least a dozen different callbacks and hidden details. Many of them can be difficult to spot and only appear on the screen for a few seconds to increase the difficulty of finding them. Here is a guide for the Elementary Easter eggs and references found so far.
14 A unique reference of the A113
One of the first Elementary Easter eggs appear when a sign for the train is shown, as it includes a unique reference to the A113. The meaning of A113 is connected to a classroom at CalArts where many at Pixar had classes, including ElementaryDirector Peter Sohn. Pixar tends to include a reference to the room number in some way in each of their films. ElementaryThe A113 reference is presented in a unique way, as the film uses the periodic table to help bring out the Easter egg.
This is because the Element City sign says “A”, “H”, and “Al”. H stands for Hydrogen, which has an atomic number of 1. Al stands for Aluminum, which has an atomic number of 13. There is no element that only has one A, so that letter remains, meaning it is read as A113. With the purpose of ElementaryIn the world, A, H and Al represent stops on the train. But Pixar historians know the real meaning of the A113 reference.
13 A wooden Pizza Planet truck
Elementary apparently includes Pixar’s most iconic Easter egg in a new way. At the beginning of the film, a version of the Pizza Planet truck adapted to Element City appears while Ember makes deliveries. She becomes trapped behind a large wooden vehicle known as a Treeyota that delivers wooden logs around the city. The car does not have any specific Pizza Planet logo based on what little is shown of the vehicle, but the Pizza Planet Truck is generally a Toyota. However, it appears to be a clever version of the iconic vehicle in a world where pizza doesn’t exist, as evidenced by the “How’s my driving?” bumper sticker.
12 Elemental’s Second Easter Egg A113
There is also a more standard A113 Easter egg in Elementary which is similar in form to previous Pixar films. A113 is considered the room number of the Department of Apartments office at City Hall. It can be seen briefly in the background when Wade runs into Ember, who is sleeping outside the door waiting to meet with the water department. This reference remains special as it is one of the rare cases where a Pixar film used A113 as a room number, with The Incredibles and Monsters University the other two being examples.
11 The Pizza Planet truck (as a ship)
Elementary Includes the Pizza Planet truck again, but in a new form later on. ElementaryThe Pizza Planet truck Easter egg can be found in the background of a scene about halfway through the film when Ember’s mother Cinder follows her to Wade’s family’s apartment. While Cinder is outside, a boat version of the vehicle can be seen in the background. The yellow color and the easy-to-spot white and red rocket on top make it clear that this is the Pizza Planet Truck. However, since this scene takes place in the Water District, the truck has transformed into a boat.
10 Pixar’s next film, Elio
In addition to referencing some iconic past films and the studio’s own history, Pixar also tends to include an Easter egg for the upcoming film in every new release. That means Elementary have a elio The Easter egg considering the sci-fi space adventure will hit theaters in 2024. The most notable example comes through a brief flashback of Wade as a child getting trapped in a sponge at school. There is a sign in the background that says “Join the Space Club” and has a planet with tentacles, which has been seen in elioIt’s marketing.
9 A secret character of Elio
There is also a secret elio character included as one of ElementaryEaster eggs. Producer Denise Ream confirmed in an interview with Eman Movie Reviews pre-release that there is a character from the upcoming movie hidden somewhere in the movie. Considering how many alien races there will be elio And since the movie hasn’t been released yet, it’s currently a bit difficult to spot this secret cameo. It may not be until when Elementary launches on Disney Plus that the cameo is seen, but the good news is that Ream has already confirmed that it is something worth keeping an eye on.
8 dug from above
Those who saw Elementary in theaters they could enjoy a new Pixar short that acts as a continuation of Above with Carl and Dug, but that’s not the last time the talking dog is seen. Pixar included the fan-favorite character in the new movie in a smart way. This is achieved by giving Dug a redesign that changes his fur to grass, making him a pet for a person from Earth. The family sighting is confirmed to be Above‘s Dug, as director Peter Sohn said E.W. that he is in the movie.
7 Partly cloudy
The elemental characters at play in Elementary It may look familiar to Pixar fans, as the people of Air are in many ways similar to Gus, the main cloud featured in the 2009 Pixar short. Partly cloudy. The similarities between ElementaryThe characters and Gus don’t seem to be a coincidence considering Peter Sohn directed the short film. There is also a sign for Partly cloudy presented in a movie theater where Ember and Wade go on their date, so a reference to the Pixar short is also more clearly included.
6 The good dinosaur
Peter Sohn’s history at Pixar is also the reason references are made to The good dinosaur are included as Elementary Easter eggs. Sohn has a long career working for Pixar at a variety of levels, but in 2015 The good dinosaur It was his debut as a feature film director. There are some apparent references to the animated film in Elementaryas a Flint and stone The Fireplace comic apparently has Arlo on the cover and a poster of The good element He’s also in the movies.
5 slab tires
He Cars The franchise receives special recognition from Pixar through the inclusion of Flagstone Tires. He Elementary The Easter egg can be seen when Flagstone Tires is displayed on the stadium banners for the Windbreakers and Cropdusters game. Flagstone Tires is a featured sponsor on the Cars movie.
4 fumigators
Another potential Pixar Easter egg in Elementary is included naming the rival team of the Windbreakers Cropdusters. While it’s certainly another gas-related pun for the Air folks’ sports team, it could also be a sneaky reference to the character Dusty Crophopper in Planes. He’s an orange crop duster in the franchise, and the Cropdusters’ orange jerseys make it more plausible that the connection is intentional.
3 Studio Ghibli
Pixar’s desire to reference its own films doesn’t mean the studio is above honoring one of the best animation studios out there, Studio Ghibli. Elementary refers to the studio known for making masterpieces such as My neighbor Totoro and Made to disappear giving Wade’s sister’s girlfriend the name Ghibli. The Easter egg is the latest chapter in Disney’s relationship with Studio Ghibli, as the company previously distributed Ghibli films internationally.

2 Eat at Ralph’s Cafe for two cents
There is also a direct reference to late Pixar animator Ralph Eggleston in Elementary. This comes by way of a restaurant called Eat At Ralph’s Cafe, with a sign indicating that it offers breakfast specials for just two cents. Ralph Eggleston is a historical Pixar figure who helped Peter Sohn get his first job at the studio with Finding Nemo, but passed away in 2022 after battling pancreatic cancer. sohn said E.W. included the nod to Eggleston as a way to remember the Pixar legend, who commonly gave his two cents on different films.
1 Elemental honors former Pixar employees
Ralph Eggleston isn’t the only former Pixar employee honored in the 2023 film. Before ElementaryIn the after credits, there is a tribute to Eggleston, Thomas Gonzales, Amber Martorelli and J. Garrett Sheldrew. Thomas Gonzales was an assistant editor at Pixar for 19 years before passing away in May 2022 after battling cancer. Amber Matroelli was a Pixar animator for 8 years and passed away in September 2022. J. Garrett Sheldrew was a Pixar story artist for 14 years and passed away in September 2022.
