The Season 1 finale of Deadlock unraveled the identity of the town’s villainous killer, unraveling a fascinating mystery. As investigators Dulce Collins and Eddie Radcliffe get closer to the killer throughout the season, they find themselves questioning the killer’s motives and potential suspects. Although they initially thought the killer might be one of the jilted women in Deadlock, evidence eventually pointed to Eddie’s boyfriend, Ray McClintock.
Ray McLintock moved to Deadloch in search of a new start after evading capture for the murder of a prostitute in Sydney. Driven by a desire to eliminate those he deemed “undesirable,” Ray launched a violent campaign to rid the town of abusive residents. His plan included kidnapping men and trafficking them using an inflatable bus. Ray’s plans come crashing down when Dulce and Eddie discover his true identity and hunt him down.
In his desperate escape, Ray met a tragic ending. As he tried to cross a fast-flowing river, he was swamped by the current and impaled on a tree, killing him instantly. Season 1 of Deadlock ended with a sense of resolution as Ray’s reign of terror was brutally brought to an end. However, the ambiguous ending leaves room for new mysteries and investigations in Deadlock that could emerge in season 2.
