Even so, From the inside out The representation of each stage of life and the emotions that accompany it does not have to be limited to animation. A live action From the inside out The film would reiterate the beats of the franchise, especially when it comes to the emotions and their antics. Those characterizations would be the most important part of a live-action film to get right, as their actions drive the plot and show the ultimate message of both films. Fortunately, there are several actors and actresses who would be up to the task of balancing the humor and heart of this franchise.

9 Kristen Bell (Nobody Wants This)

Joy – Originally voiced by Amy Poehler

Kristen Bell could capture Joy’s energy and emotional vulnerability in From the inside out as she showed a version of it in Nobody wants this. Bell’s Joanne in the Netflix series has a more jaded version of Joy’s sunny personality that could easily be changed to incorporate her energy.

Riley, fear, joy, anger, disgust, shame and sadness in Inside Out 2. Inside Out 2 Voice Cast Related: Every New, Recurring, and Recast Character

The cast of Inside Out 2 is missing some important actors from the first film, but Pixar’s sequel brings back many iconic voice actors.

Kauahi could balance the key parts of Sadness’s personality with the comedic parts of her character, giving her arc the same impact as the original film.

7 Danny DeVito (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia)

Anger – Originally voiced by Lewis Black

Danny DeVito’s numerous roles, including Frank in It’s always sunny in Philadelphia, would easily allow him to show both Anger’s anger and gentleness in From the inside out. Frank’s particular energy and quick temper match Anger’s perfectly in both films, making him one of the most energetic characters in From the inside out. By contrast, more serious roles and DeVito’s natural warmth would allow him to capture Anger’s gentleness in Inside out 2 while encouraging Joy to move on after she gives up on taking them back to headquarters.

6 Keegan-Michael Key (Keanu)

Fear – Originally voiced by Bill Hader

Near

His historic comedy career and his ever-present anxiety in Keanu would allow Keegan-Michael Key to easily capture Fear’s anxious nature and over-preparation in From the inside out. Key’s role as the rightly scared and anxious Clarence in Keanu matches many of Fear’s own beats, and its action experience fits easily with Fear’s ability to counter scary situations, like the parachute scene in From the inside out 2. Key’s comedic tone and pacing also work well for the character, allowing him to capture both frantic and resigned humor in many of Fear’s memorable quotes in From the inside out.

5 Annie Murphy (Schitt’s Creek)

Disgust – Originally voiced by Mindy Kaling

Near

Alexis Annie Murphy Schitt’s Creek would allow him to face the role with ease, since perfectly reflects Disgust’s fashion sense, personality and empathy in From the inside out. Alexis’ love of fashion, her different ideas about what is acceptable, and her ability to navigate social situations coincide with many of Disgust’s best moments in both films. However, it is Alexis’s empathy and good heart that truly makes Murphy a strong candidate, as Disgust’s own empathy along with anger helps Joy overcome her pain and leads her to Inside out 2 end.

4 Anna Kendrick (Mr. Right)

Anxiety – Originally voiced by Maya Hawke

Her portrayal of the anxious but kind Martha in Mr. Right adds to Anna Kendrick’s affable demeanor, making her an ideal choice to play Anxiety in From the inside out. Anxiety in Inside out 2 he means well, but is ultimately harmful, as his plans to help end up causing more harm. Kendrick’s Martha balances that anxious nature and desire for perfection with a warm personality, making her an easy protagonist to root for and a great choice to capture the complexity of anxiety on film.

3Joe Locke (Heartcap)

Shame – Originally voiced by Paul Walter Hauser

Joe Locke could easily embody Embarrassment’s timid nature and subsequent determination to help in From the inside out, as he already embodies both in Charlie Heart catcher. Although he is one of the new emotions in Inside out 2Shame doesn’t have much of an arc. That said, the few beats he gets he uses to help the original five emotions, gaining some confidence in the process. This journey mirrors that of Charlie, whose battles with anxiety and calmness into a comfortable personality can be easily transferred by Locke to represent the character.

2 Tiffany Haddish (Tuca and Bertie)

Envy – Originally voiced by Ayo Edebiri

Near

Haddish’s ability to combine intensity with comedy, as seen in her role as Tuca in Tuca and Bertie, makes her an ideal choice to embody Envy’s sweet but strong personality in From the inside out. Tuca’s energy and humor fit many aspects of Envy, whose kindness is often tinged with an awkward edge. Haddish could balance those two sides easily, adding her own sharp wit to develop the character and her best moments in From the inside out 2.

1 Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation)

Ennui – Originally voiced by Adèle Exarchopoulos

Near

Aubrey Plaza’s deadpan delivery and ability to change emotionally in an instant, as highlighted in her role in parks and recreation, fits with Ennui’s perpetually carefree personality in From the inside out. Plaza’s time as April showcased her ability to balance character progression and deadpan humor, creating a well-rounded, fun character who rarely seemed invested in the world around her. This would work perfectly for Ennui since, despite being one of the calmer emotions in Inside out 2still has his strong moments, like when he loses his phone during the second From the inside out climax of the film.
