Bikini Kill will kick off the tour in Mexico City on March 3 and will travel through South America and Europe before returning to the United States. They will hold a North American leg in Los Angeles on August 15th, then visit cities such as San Francisco, Denver, Chicago and Toronto before concluding in Baltimore on September 11th.
Fans can pre-sell tickets starting February 6th for select groups such as artists and Citibank card members, with general ticket sales starting February 9th.
This tour is particularly exciting as it marks Bikini Kill’s return to the stage after a break. Filled with signature punk sounds and passionate performances, their set is sure to be unforgettable. In addition to touring, lead singer Kathleen Hanna will be embarking on a book tour in May to celebrate the release of her memoir, Rebel Girl: My Life as a Feminist Punk. Bikini Kill is a punk rock band formed in October 1990 in Olympia, Washington. Original members included Kathleen Hanna, Billy Karren, Kathi Wilcox and Tobi Vail. They were instrumental in creating the riot grrrl movement, which used feminist ideas in their music.
Their songs are known for being intense and carrying strong messages. After two albums, a few EPs and compilations, they disbanded in 1997. But they reunited for tours in 2019 and 2022, with Erica Dawn Lyle joining them instead of Billy Karren.
The band’s music mixes punk rock with other styles, and their lyrics often talk about issues important to women. They are considered a seminal band in the history of punk music, paving the way for other female-led bands.
