Avatar Frontiers of Pandora Update 1.005 Patch Notes

Avatar: Pandora’s Frontier

Avatar: Pandora’s Frontier is an open-world action-adventure game based on the Avatar film series, released in 2023. Developed by Massive Entertainment and published by Ubisoft, the game is available for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S from December 7, 2023. It is the second video game in the series after Avatar: The Game (2009) and received mixed reviews, often compared to Ubisoft’s Far Cry series.

In Avatar: Pandora’s Frontier, players will explore Pandora’s western frontier and experience its beauty and danger from a first-person perspective. Developed by Lightstorm Entertainment and Disney, the game immerses players in the world of Pandora, who awakens as strangers after being abducted as children by the RDA. As the RDA once again threatens Pandora and her tribe, players must rediscover their lost legacy and fight to protect their homeland.

The story tells the story of the Na’vi protagonists fighting against the encroachment of the Resource Development Administration (RDA), and introduces new characters in the standalone version. Although the game expands the world view of “Avatar”, it is not a direct sequel or movie spin-off of “Avatar: The Game”, but explores new aspects of the universe together with the upcoming sequel movie.

Despite the game being canon, there are no significant crossovers with the film, though minor elements like Francis Ardmore are mentioned. The game is set in the western borderland of Pandora, including the Kinlor Forest (home to the Aranahe weaver family), the Upper Plains (where the Zeswa family live and teach riding two-horses), and the Cloud Forest (home to the Kame’tire healer family).

How to play Avatar: Pandora’s Frontier

In the game, the player controls a Ne’vi orphan who is trained as a soldier by the Resource Development Administration (RDA) and wakes up in an abandoned facility sixteen years later. The story is related to the movie, but independent. The game supports two-player cooperative multiplayer.

Players explore Pandora’s western frontier and organize the Na’vi tribe to resist the RDA’s plunder of natural resources. Pandora is divided into three regions, each with unique biomes, quests, and inhabitants. Using “N’vi Sense”, players can highlight interactable objects and enemy weaknesses. They can use RDA weapons (such as assault rifles) and Na’vi weapons (such as bows and arrows). As players progress, better equipment is unlocked, enhancing combat capabilities. Crafting materials collected in the wild can be used to craft ammunition and other items.

Players can hunt animals for resources, but using guns will hinder resource gathering. Defeating RDA forces and helping Na’vi allies earns “Clan Favor” which can be used to purchase rare weapons, armor, and crafting materials. Player characters are agile and can perform advanced acrobatics such as double jumps. They can also ride Ikran, a flying creature, for fast travel.
