Apex Legends is a free-to-play game where players fight to be the last team standing. It is produced by Respawn Entertainment and released in February 2019 for PlayStation 4, Windows and Xbox One. It will then be released on Nintendo Switch in March 2021, and on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in March 2022. There is also a mobile version called Apex Legends Mobile, released in May 2022, for Android and iOS. The game allows people on different devices to play together, except for the mobile version.

In Apex Legends, players form teams into groups of two or three before each match. They choose characters with special abilities, called “Legends.” There are two main modes: “Battle Royale” mode, where teams land on islands, search for weapons, and try to be the last team standing, and “Arena” mode, where teams battle each other in team deathmatch. The game is set in a sci-fi world related to Respawn Entertainment’s Titanfall series.
Apex Legends has received positive reviews for its fun gameplay and blend of different play styles. It quickly became popular, with over 25 million players in the first week and 50 million players in the first month. Apex Legends Season 20 (titled “Breakthrough”) is coming soon, and it will bring the most significant changes to the character (Legendary) gameplay in the game’s five-year history. While Season 20 won’t add any new characters, maps, or weapons, major parts of the Apex Legends experience are changing dramatically. Apex Legends’ patch notes highlight major changes, including a complete rework of how Evo Shields work, a new Legend Upgrade system to make every match different, and an easier way for players to use the Crafting Replicator. These changes will affect the way people play the game.
Apex Legends Gameplay
Apex Legends is an online game in which groups of three players (called “squads”) compete in a battle royale using special characters called “legends.” The game is free to play, and players can purchase cosmetics such as clothing and weapon colors using real money or in-game currency. Each game has twenty squads, and players can team up with friends or be matched with random players. Before the game, each player chooses one of 25 characters, each with unique abilities that affect how their team plays.
The game map is explored by parachuting from an airplane, with one player in each squad (the jumpmaster) deciding when and where the team will land. On the ground, squads search for weapons, armor, and other items while avoiding other squads.
Over time, the game’s maps get smaller and smaller, forcing squads to come into closer contact with each other. The team with the last surviving member wins the game. Players who are knocked down during a match can be revived by teammates. If a player is killed outright, they can be brought back before the time limit expires if their team collects the respawn flag, finds the location where they died, and takes them to a specific beacon on the map.

Season 9 added a new mode called Arena, where teams can battle in 3v3 team deathmatch. The first team to score at least 3 points and lead by 2 points wins. Unlike the battle royale mode, players start in the “Shop” and purchase gear and abilities using materials acquired in previous rounds. This mode is a permanent change to the battle royale format, adding a new way to play Apex Legends.
