Fortunately, Wicked: Part 2 will include fantastic moments from the musical that bring this epic tale to a climactic ending.
10 Glinda Becomes The Figurehead For The Wizard’s Administration
Glinda Is Given The Title “Glinda The Good” And Presented As The Face Of Oz
After the ending of Wicked Part 1, Glinda sides with The Wizard even after learning that he’s lying and hurting the talking animals. This has brought up questions among Wicked fans as to whether Glinda is really a villain and undeserving of the title “Glinda the Good.” One of the best and simultaneously most tragic moments coming in Wicked: Part 2 will solidify the opinions of those who think she’s a villain.

At the start of Act 2 of the Wicked musical, Glinda acts as a figurehead for The Wizard’s administration, working closely with Madame Morrible. She puts effort into convincing the Ozians that everything is perfect and happy, even announcing her engagement to Fiyero as a way to distract the citizens from everything terrible happening. This political job positions Glinda as a direct foe of Elphaba, putting even more tension in their friendship after “Defying Gravity.”

The scene surrounding the song includes Elphaba asking Nessarose, the new tyrannical governor of Munchkinland, for help going up against the Wizard. In response, the younger sister sings “The Wicked Witch of the East,” where she gets angry that Elphaba never tried to help her gain the ability to walk.

Anyone who only knows the soundtrack might be confused since the song doesn’t appear on the Wicked OBC, and that’s because the song has multiple spoilers, including Nessarose’s magical potential, the magic in the silver slippers, and Boq turning into The Tin Man. If Wicked: Part 2 includes the beloved song – which Jon M. Chu hinted at to CinemaBlend – it will be the first official recording of the song.
8 Elphaba Frees The Flying Monkeys From The Wizard
The Flying Monkeys Deserve Justice After The Pain They Went Through
The Flying Monkeys are one of the most iconic parts of The Wizard of Oz, to the point that the phrase has become a ubiquitous fill-in for individuals who do another person’s bidding. The Wicked Broadway musical and movie adaptation gives the characters a much sadder origin story. Wicked: Part 1 shows The Wizard tricking Elphaba into casting a spell that causes wings to sprout out of the monkeys’ backs in a horror-esque scene. Madame Morrible then reveals that the flying monkeys will be used as spies. Luckily, Wicked: Part 2 will include justice for the flying monkeys.

Elphaba will sneak back into The Wizard’s quarters to free the flying monkeys, but The Wizard will catch her. He tries to convince her to work with him during the song “Wonderful,” and she says she’ll take the offer as long as he frees the monkeys. Elphaba doesn’t change her mind until after the monkeys are out of their cages and flying away. In the end, they become loyal to Elphaba because she actually cares about them.

The central love story of Wicked is the platonic love between Elphaba and Glinda; however, the romance between Fiyero and Elphaba is a secondary love story that drives a wedge between the two friends. Though they have chemistry in the original story, Wicked changes the musical by giving Fiyero and Elphaba a new meet-cute that allows them to develop a stronger connection earlier. By the time Wicked: Part 1 ends, they are very clearly in love with each other.
Because of this change, the highly anticipated song “As Long As You’re Mine” will be more gratifying by the time it appears in Wicked: Part 2. Fiyero finally decides that he wants to be with Elphaba instead of pretending to be in love with Glinda. She also declares that, for the first time, she feels “wicked,” which is one of the most memorable lyrics in the Broadway musical.
6 Elphaba Transforms Fiyero Into The Scarecrow

Of the big Wizard of Oz characters in Wicked, Part 1 has shown the origin story of the Cowardly Lion, Elphaba, and Glinda. The first half also hints that Nessarose is the Wicked Witch of the East. Nessa’s song will explain how Boq became the Tin Man, which leaves The Scarecrow. How and why Elphaba transforms Fiyero into The Scarecrow is an interesting twist. She only makes the choice because it was the only way to save his life after an incident with Fiyero and the guards.

5 Dorothy Arrives In Oz Because Of A Twister
The Wizard Of Oz Story Overlaps With The Second Half Of Wicked
Every Wizard of Oz fan is waiting for the moment that Dorothy arrives in Oz because of a twister in the Wicked: Part 2 story. This sets in motion the events of the 1939 movie starring Judy Garland. In Wicked, the storm that transports Dorothy is far from an accident. In a heat of anger, Glinda suggests that Madame Morrible spread a rumor that Nessarose is in danger to lure Elphaba out so that they can capture her.
Instead, the Shiz headmistress decides to murder Nessa by conjuring a storm, since weather magic is her specialty. However, the arrival of the iconic character does not necessarily mean Dorothy will appear in Wicked: Part 2. In the musical, Dorothy is always off-stage, in a trap door, or a silhouette. As such, it’s unclear how they will handle the situation.

4 Elphaba And Glinda Make Up During “For Good”
The Wicked Best Friends Find Peace At The End Of The Story
Close
Considering Elphaba and Glinda’s friendship is the driving force in Wicked, the story wouldn’t maintain the hopeful tone unless the duo found a way to resolve their differences and become friends again. This occurs in the scene leading up to the Wicked duet “For Good.” The supposed death of Fiyero and their shared grief brings the pair together. Elphaba tries to spare Glinda from the shame of being friends with her, giving her The Grimmerie and trying to send her away.
Glinda says she wants to clear Elphaba’s name, but Elphaba makes her promise not to try. Their bittersweet song is bound to delight viewers and possibly make them cry. Based on the close relationship between Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, the lead cast members of Wicked will certainly put all their emotion into the song, which is the pinnacle of meaningful friendships.

3 The Wizard Learns Elphaba Was His Daughter
Elphaba Never Learns About Her Biological Father’s Identity
Close
Most of the questions in Wicked are “how” and “why” things happen since most of the ending is known based on The Wizard of Oz’s ending. However, one “who” question set up at the start of the Wicked movie, musical, and book is the identity of Elphaba’s father. In all iterations of the story, it’s revealed that The Wizard is the mysterious member of Elphaba’s family tree. Before he was the leader of Oz, he hooked up with Melena Thropp, Elphaba’s mother. He gives her a green elixir, which results in Elphaba’s green skin.

This moment in Wicked: Part 2, which occurs after Elphaba’s death, is bound to excite fans. Glinda connects the dots, revealing the truth to the cruel overlord. There’s an enjoyable irony in the fact that his own actions with Melena Thropp were his ultimate undoing. Hopefully, Wicked: Part 2 makes a slight change to the musical and allows Elphaba to learn her biological father’s identity before her death.
2 Madame Morrible Gets Her Comeuppance
Glinda Throws Madame Morrible In Jail For Murder
The end of Wicked: Part 1 reveals Madame Morrible as a significant villain in the story, having worked with The Wizard from the very start. She becomes increasingly evil throughout the story, leading a disinformation campaign to paint Elphaba as the villain. Without Madame Morrible, she would never have become “The Wicked Witch of the West.” She also decides to murder Nessarose. Alongside Boq, she also has a hand in rallying the group during the song “March of the Witch Hunters.”

Luckily, Madame Morrible doesn’t get away with her horrible actions at the end of the Wicked Broadway musical, one of the best moments to expect in Wicked: Part 2. After the supposed death of Elphaba, Glinda takes action to make everything right in Oz. This includes a hilarious interaction where she arrests Madame Morrible, using the headmistress’ words against her. This moment feels like justice against such a despicable human being.
1 Elphaba Successfully Fakes Her Own Death
Elphaba Survives Using A Trap Door In The Kiamo Ko Castle
Wicked’s biggest change to The Wizard of Oz is the fact that Elphaba doesn’t truly die at the end of the Broadway musical – a fact that will undoubtedly be mirrored in Wicked: Part 2.Fiyero sends Elphaba a letter with a plan to fake their deaths and escape. Since Kiamo Ko was originally Fiyero’s castle, he knew about the trap doors she could use. He tells her to fake melting by water, a rumor he found laughable earlier in Act 2, and to escape into a trap door.

In the
dark
Wicked
book by Gregory Maguire
, Elphaba dies by accident because Dorothy dumps water on her when the witch’s broom is on fire. The young woman doesn’t realize that the witch is allergic to water.
Elphaba executes this plan flawlessly, and he comes to the castle after the announcement of her death so that they can leave Oz together. This is the most exciting moment to come, given how passionate Wicked fans feel about the main character. Elphaba truly dying at the end of Wicked would be too dark for the frothy musical storyline.
